Recently i found a cool script, a free script which you can use to start your own file uploading and sharing service, which you can also make it free or for people to pay for, or even both.


The script is made with php, it doesn't work with databases in mysql, only with txt databases, i mean, you do not need to create and configure too many files.


You just need to download the script, which is less then 1 MB, then extract it, then open the read me text file, and finally, you just need to configure a file named config.php which is really very easy, then upload all files in a directory on your site or in a new website, and change mod certain files and folders to 777 (linux configuration).


You should also insert your google adsense code in the ads pages, it is very easy too, if you do not have a google adsense account, create one now.


I already have done all of this, it is very easy, i uploaded to show you how it looks at first sight, but i will changed the skin and i will add some add-ins too from their website, for instance, a free image upload script and a contact form.

Plus one more thing, you can change the skin or template, the logo, the links, the affiliate links in the footer and header, and add more mods and hacks, as well as change the skin too a better one, they have awesome ones in their site, all and everything for free.

You can also mod all the pages with your own designs, scripts, et cetera.

You can do what you want with it! Use your imagination!

Thanks garbage, but there's no need, i will use it with my trap17 site which is about free flash clocks, i mean, i will give all the chance to upload and share all their made and discovered flash clocks, i will change a few things and then i will upload.

But if you want to exchange links or something, we can do it, i will create a page with "friends" links, you are invited to enter it, if you want.

That's a really great script to have. I would use it if I get my own server I can afford that much space. I do wonder why they made it free but hey I don't mind I would probably customize it a bit. If I create my site movers site I can use that so they can temporarily store the files or something like that who knows.

it would be nice maby if YOU were doing some kind of gallery of artwork or something but giving out the url's for other people to use would be BANDWIDTH SUICIDE ... if you have like a bunch of traffic... cause imagine uploading ur sig to ur site and putting it as ur sig for a forum.... then imagine A BUNCH of people uploading their sigs to YOUR site and using it on a forum >.<

That is one of the major set backs for file hosting sites your speninf most of your money paying for BW. Look at filefront 44.17 Terabytes worth of files. Imagine that getting downloaded on a daily basis. that would wipe out everyone account on trap and asta.

My account alone has used up 10.81 TB worth of bw, so your file hosting would have to be ad loaded along with many many sponsors ot help cover the costs for that.

I seen a few scripts as well, did see a ajax script that did the same might have to look for that.

interesting! but i really doubt if you have the space to store all dat, what if the files are GB? or what if the file has been changed in its extension but it really is an exe file? are you charging for the service?

Hey guys, i will not use it to store big files, i will use it so that my free flash clocks website visitors can upload and share all their free flash clocks using that script, so that everyone can upload/share/download and use.

I will put a max file size limit of 2 MB, so that it doesn't take too much BW, anyway, 5 GB of BW which is the trap17 free hosting gives, will be more then enough, 1 or 2 GB will do the trick, nothing more.

You all can provide this free service on your websites, like an add-in, like something to attract more visitors/clients/customers, or just for members/clients, you decide this, and all depends if such script is usefull for using with your website subject/theme.

You can use it to store sigs, and all kinds of graphics, you may have noticed that you can create categories which uploaders can insert/categorize their uploads in to, for instance, my uploads categories will be of flash clocks, flash games, flash intros, flash components, and so forth, be smarter, get help in this topic, concerning how can/should you use this full script with your website subject, i don't mind helping you.

A while ago the rapidshare source code was leaked, as some of you know rapidshare has the best uploading service on the world, however this leak was illegal so using that script is illegal as well.. This is a nice alternative if you want your visitors to upload files to your website..

Nice script, but when using it it is best that you restrict those content or access to the uploads to certain ppl, since it might cause ppl to upload illegal or legitimate stuff and also have to take note of the number of downloads... And 2 MB limit is way too low, you cannot host much files there since lots of them exceed 2 MB and a normal good quality photo already takes up more than 2 MB of space... I might use this script if I could control all those factors, but its not kind of easy to maintain that...

Hype, 2 MB is well enough, i am going, as well as my website visitors, be uploading flash clocks, mainly, but also flash components, flash intros, flah games and flash animations, and so, 2 MB is more then enough, every flash clock in the "world" has a max file size of 1.5 MB, some rare ones achieve almost 2MB, so you see, in my case, it is enough 100%.

Flash intros and all the other flash stuff, including flash games, are also files, usually, less then 2MB, just a few ones have more MB's, but people will know that they can only upload and share free flash stuff which its max file size is 2 MB, so they can not bypass that limit, and they will respect it, even so, they can not do a thing about it.

Concerning what you said about configuring those things, they are all configurable, and in a very easy way, this script was well built, to be exact to you, you just have to configure one file concerning the script features and admin features/functions/limts/et cetera, the file name is "config.php", even a child can understand it and set it easy and quickly, you can and should beleave in me.

Concerning the configuration of the ads, there are 3 files which, if you want (and also if you have a google adsense account as an advertizer or a publisher) you can just add your google adsense id code or anyother ads you work with, doesn't matter really, it is so easy...!

Now, this is my case, yours should be different, just think a litle on how you will work wqith this script, either way, it is very easy.

Finally, the thing i like the most in this script is that you have authorization to change everything in it, there is just one thing you can not change, and that is the footer's copyright notice of the author and also the link to the author's website, besides that, you can configure the text, graphics, logo in the top/left, all of it!

Yes, Florisjuh, i heard that, rapidshare manager was furious, i supose, i would!

Anyway, rapidshare.de has changed a lot now, the new uploads are now made in rapidshare.com , it is their new domain, and they do not have time or download limits, just upload limits, and the speed is now the greatest, at least, comparing to the latest month, which i had to contact their manager because i was downloading files at 50 to 100 KBytes per second, they were having very big problems concerning the huge amount of downloaders, so they had to expand their service a lot, as you can also see in their new site:

But this script is far more simple, effective, efficient, easy to setup, easy to use, easy to custom the esign, easy to add add-in's, easy to incorporate into your website, and if i may say so, a very good and original idea, i still have problems understanding why they are giving this script for free, with almost no limits, they are just asking not to take out the bottom link and authors notice, so i guess they are pretty generous, don't you think?!

This is a really interesting script. I'm sure it will be useful to many people. However, I know I'm not using this on my site. People could "ren" their files into txt extensions and it was really an executable files. What if files were half a gigabyte big?

This wouldn't be really good, unless you have a restriction or something.

That is configurable in a very easy, firefoxrocks, you just need to configure one file (config.php) for that, and it is very easy to set it up, i know.

No one can upload a GB if you configure a max filez size of 5 MB for uploads, that is also configurable in the script.

Even if somebody uploaded a virus in a file with a different file extension, the virus would not be executed, it needs its own file extension to be able to be executed, and this script allows you to configure that too, you can configure which file types are allowed to be uploaded.

This is very intresting. I'm working on a website for game development, so I could use this to allow people to upload their ideas.

I'll have to set a limit, though. My current host for the webby only has up to 200mb space, so the limit will have to be rather low. I'll probably set it 100kb/file, as the files people have given me have been so small anyway. As for bandwidth, I'll come up with a way to figure out the maximum sometime later...

To tell you all the absolute truth, you aren't allowed to use this stuff at the Trap, since it would be considered as if you were sharing your hosting, which is against the rules. This, however, a nice concept, and could be put to somehwat good use.

I don't think it is against the rules, i have the right to insert a script to make my visitors share their work, at least concerning my website subject/theme, plus, i will not need GB's of memory and GB's of space, 1 or 2 GB's of BW will be enough and my 150MB of my trap17 free hosting account is also enough for using this script.

Flash clocks, animations, intros, games and components/extensions, are always small size files, most of them have less then 250 KB, so i will not consume too much space nor BW, plus, i can control all that in this script, it's very easy to limit things up, concerning those matters.

Good thing. I mean, itīs good that everyone can set up his own file uploading service, although as may have said, it would be hard to maintain for an individual person (i mean, not being a business). I had bandwidth problems with my own site without uploading anything more than htm and php files, so I canīt imagine what it would be implementing this. But well, itīs a possibility.

Sprnknwn, i understand your point of view, but i must tell you, i am using this script with a non business website, and the stuff my visitors will upload, will not take much BW nor hard drive Space.

But my way of using this script could also be applyed to much more websites, with businesses or not, the main usefull thing about this script is that you can configure all things in a very easy way, and this script is not for businesses mainly, it is for people who needs a script like this for things like:

- Store personal files from one computer and download from another (school, work), and those files could be music to listen, confidencial files, personal files, school or work files, et cetera;

- Share graphics, in a forum comunity or just a comunity in a website, and graphics like logos, gifs, sigs, wallpapers, et cetera;

- For personal use only, just for one person that needs to save his files online for later access, and from any place in the world;

- To add some dynamic to a website, with this script you can add more functions/features to your website, just think a litle before you actually use it, there is a solution for any problem, the main solution is to, first, use your head, your imagination.

poland55, this script works, and works preety well, you can see the script in my website, how i incorporated.

They have more plgins to this script, in their site, and i know they have a image uploading script too, it can be incorporated into this script, has one of the menus, but i do not know if you must pay for that particular plugin.

If it is possible for anyone to upload any type of file without you having control over him/her doing so, it's probably against the rules to host it here. However, if you used some kind of gallery system (Coppermine, Gallery2, zOOm Gallery for Mambo, etc.) then you could probably get away with it. But a free-for-all would most likely be prohibited.

I can control everything, i have an admin control panel, which i use to ban ip's, delete uploaded files, et cetera.

This service is not for all, and it is only to upload flash clocks, and other flash stuff people can upload without breaking the laws, and people, before upload anything, they all agree with the terms of service, as you can see in the front page.

I am not making a service for everyone to upload their files, no matter the file types nor the files itself, no, i am adding this functionality to my free flash clocks website members, for the reason i told already.

Everything is controled by me, it is not like rapidshare or megaupload where all people can upload their illegal stuff (movies, games, software, ebooks, templates), this is only to be used to share flash clocks and other flash stuff, which also, the upload file size limit is of 2 MB, and megaupload is more then 200 MB and rapidshare 100 MB, that is a very big difference!
