I wanted to make a link graphic to put on my web site in support of the Common Sense Coalition Radio Talk Show,
http://www.commonsensecoalitiontalkradio.com/chronicle.html
I was able to save the top part of that page to a file on my computer to make the banner, however, when I open it in photo draw, the file is too big, and my program won't load the picture. I don't have a clue as to what to do. I can't get it to open in anything else, I even tried emailing it to myself so I could work it over, but nothing is working and I'm at a total loss as to what to do. Photodraw is the only editing program that I have, aside from the one that my camera came with, and I tried putting it in that program, but that didn't work either.
Sure could use some help here!

So, Sheepdog,

your question is not 100% clear to me, however, I have given something a try, done what I thought you mean.

Please let me know if the added picture is the one you were referring to, and if this is roughly the size you wish.

LOL, not only am I not good at computer stuff, I'm not even really good enough to explain what it is I can't do that I need to! Somedays I think I'm pretty hopeless.

But yes, that is is picture I wanted to downsize. I actually sent it in an email to another buddy of mine and somehow he resized it and emailed it back to me. He didn't even know if the program he used was standard microsoft or something he got as an add on. I tried to do what he said he did and my computer didn't have that option, so I guess it's some odd program.

This stuff is all so confusing. Wish I could just stick to dogs!

Thanks for helping!

You are quite welcome, Sheepdog.

Don't worry, you have your own skills, you can't know everything.

All the rest is what this forum is here for.

Glad your problem got sorted.

There are a couple of free image editing programs available online that you can download and install on your computer. The most popular image editing software on Linux is Gimp. It works on Windows too and although it cannot do everything that Adobe Photoshop can do, it does come quite close. The interface is slightly difficult to use, but the developers plan on changing that with the new version to make the software look like just about any other application, and perhaps more like Photoshop. On Windows, "Paint.NET" is quite popular as a replacement for the Paintbrush software included with Microsoft Windows. If you run Windows XP or older, "Paint.NET" is a huge improvement over the Paintbrush included with Windows, though Microsoft Windows Vista/7 adds additional capabilities to Paintbrush.

Paint Shop Pro was quite popular in the old days as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop and you just might be able to get a used copy of it for really cheap. There are also plenty of old Adobe Photoshop copies being sold for cheap or given away for free as organizations upgrade to newer versions of the software. As they say, one man's junk is another man's treasure. I'm still running off the Adobe CS3 suite for some of my web design and development needs though the latest out there is Adobe CS5.5. It's enough to scratch my itch and although I would like to take up the newest versions that Adobe has stocked store shelves with, they simply cost too much to purchase unless I plan on using them for providing commercial services.

Thanks. The only problem with getting another complete editing program is that I would have to figure out how to use it! :)

I have been using the long outdated Microsoft Photo Draw. Until this little delema it did everything I needed to ever do. And honestly, it took me forever to figure it out, and I am just too lazy or stupid to have any desire to try to learn a new program. I am a little leary of used software, I bought Corral program once and I couldn't install it on my computer with out some kind of code I didn't get with it. Big waste of money, which is something I just can't stand to do.

SheepDog,

If you would like help with using an image editing software program and are on the lookout for a tutor, I'm available. There is plenty of free software around so you do not have to go out and get yourself commercial software if all you plan to do is edit images occasionally. Paint.NET and Gimp are the two most popular software programs that are free and they even let you keep the source code so if you want something to work differently, you can hire a software programmer and they can alter the software to suit your style of working.

Among the popular software out there are the Adobe Photoshop, Adobe FireWorks (formerly known as Macromedia FireWorks), Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and Corel Paint Shop Pro (formerly known as Jasc Paint Shop Pro). You could get copies of these software if you plan to go about creating posters, editing pictures of the puppies that you plan to put up on your website for sale, and doing some image editing stuff as a freelancer.

Lots of folks on this forum would be willing to help out with image editing if you do not want to do it yourself, so you could also post a thread and you will most probably get some help with image editing.
