What game are you trying to extract the sound from? I could tell you where to get an extractor. Remember that its illegal to distribute it in your games or raw without author permission.
I like to extract music from the following games that I own,
* NFS: Underground
* NFS: Underground 2
* NFS: Most Wanted
* Max Payne
* Return to Castle of Wolfenstein
* Mario Forever
These are for begining. pLease help me.
As I said if you run it in a window(not fullscreen), turn off all sound effects, pump up the music using the games built in volume control, and record the music in Windows sound recorder, you should get a decent copy of the audio.

You could also get one of the "what you hear is what is recorded" type recorder. I once heard of software called "Advanced Sound Recorder", but I don't remember the website. A good search in Google with keywords "sound recorder" is good enough.

You can just select the recording device as "Wave" in windows sound recorder, or Audacity(which can export files to the advanced OGG format), and record, which will give you what I think you're trying to say.
NFS: Underground, Underground 2:
just google for extractor or look on some nfs sites (not ea!)
NFS Most Wanted:
same, just maybe the batch doesn't work as it should. run the commands (tools) manually if you got problems, but well, it's probably one of those errors that only occur on my windows, so I can reproduce it on any windows, noone else does
Return to Castle of Wolfenstein: PAK = ZIP file, if i remember right (as usual for quake3 engine)
Max Payne: Some of the standard extractors could handle those files, think watto extractor... but can't say for sure, either.
Generally, for other games, try: Dragon unpacker (and included hyperripper, if nothing else helps), Watto extractor, GAP (player but can 'convert'=extract
And if you happen to find something for ravenshield/splintercell 1/2 / delta force (working one with final music output!), let me now
I'll workout your suggestions and the come back here to let you know about the outcomes.

Delivi I can help you with max payne google max payne rip kit and you should find a kit that has everything you need to rip the sounds/music from max payne, I have this prog and its awesome it used in a command line environment (DOS) Start> all programs> accessories> Command prompt copy the SOUND.DIR and SOUND.EMM files from the audio folder of the max payne DVD (PS2 only) put those 2 files in a folder along with the unzipped kit and then open a command prompt using the instructions mentioned earlier and you type mpex.Bat and let the prog do its magic I think it will extract the VAG files convert them to wav then mp3s and delete all the wavs and VAGs

Extract Music From Games
Is there any way to extract the music and sound effects and stuff from a DATA.PAK file on the PS2 versions of the games true crime NY and LA? I really like some of the songs on these 2 games and I want to extract the sound effect like the gunshot sounds car noises and pedestrian dialogue etc. Is there any way to do this beside recording from the lineouts or but cube media player or game extractor b/c thise 2 programs don't work well CMP takes too long and Game extractor cuts off the footers from the audio files and when converting one with MFAudio the file keeps converting and wont stop even when the meter hits 100 it just keeps on going and I have to hard close it. So is there any other program out there I can use to extract these tunes? I want to rip them from the disc and not just download those songs b/c I love to rip songs from games I hear new music that way.

I've been reading for a while about this. There is a folder in your PSP game for example called BGM and BGM_E, thats where all the audio is stored but like someone said you can't convert this to a decent format like mp3. So your best bet is to play the files from your psp and use a program like NERO WAVE, connect your psp to the microphone jack of your computer and copy the music using this method. You will get perfect quality, but it'll take a while.

I see the files are on the harddrive as "wav", but its not a real wav format as I cannot play the files in a regular player: it shows the file is emty.
Anyone know how to oonvert these files or extract the voices from Knights of the old Republic 2?

how about bug fish games? they have awesome sounds and music.. Can you somehow export sounds from those games withoutusing sound recorder?
-question by WILLIAM
You can always try Audacity. Once you have downloaded the LAME encoder, you can then record straight to MP3. I used a few female RCA plugs and a stereo 3.5mm audio jack to connect the PS@ to my computers LINE IN. I was able to record striaght to 192kbs MP3. Then you can use Windows Media Player to source the album covers.
Although it would be easier to directly extract the files...
Thats what was wanted in the first place...
(PS Due to windows sound device mapping thingy, it wont work very well in Vista or 7
