It depends on which shoutbox you're trying to install. This board installed Dean's shoutbox. And basically you need to access your ACP and root directory to add, insert and modify files. Those are all listed in the installation package. The installation package also includes where and how to edit files. You must be willing to sit through and read them carefully.

Dean's site also provides installation help. But then again, you didn't specify which shoutbox you were trying to install... so there goes your precious time.

Next time please post with all necessary detail information.

it first of all matters which version of ipb youm are running and first of all you need ipb 2.1 or later to install deans shoutbox from dscripting.com.

secondly you will need to upload, install and eddit all the shout box files included in the redme it will take a long time but if you are paiend you will find you have eddited the things in no time.

and last of all when you have eddited all the files needed edditing you wll have to reupload the files tht have been updated then go to your acp and eddit the index.php page to tell it that you have a new mode installed. And when you have done all of that you have the shout box installed.

If you are feeling too lazy that you don't wnat to install any mods continue reading (although this isn't the best way to get it done)....

1) Goto http://www.myshoutbox.com and sign up for a free shout box.

2) Goto forum management and create a forum at the top called Shoutbox. Lock this forum.

3) Paste your shoutbox link (with appropriate width and height) from your myshoutbox control panel onto the forum description form.

Save settings, Refresh.

You're done.

Be a true hero and take a peak at my shoutbox tutorial.

http://www.trap17.com/forums/tutorial-inst...1-2-t26701.html

This gives you everything you need from start to finish in implementing a shoutbox into your forum. Please note that this tutorial is for IPB 1.2, and it is a "Deans Shoutbox". Although it is not exactly like the 2.0 and 2.1 versions, it has everything you need.

Try it out, and if you need help, be sure to contact me.
