Witch game do you think strated it all? we are talking just gaming in general, witch game do you enjoy the most? Witch game is most addicting to you? (ermm wow ;)) im excited to see the results!

I haven't played halo nor halo 2 nor doom. Only games I played from the list u made are half life 1 & 2. Good game I'd say.
Anyway I think there are some better games. I like Mafia a lot, for example. I also think (when it comes to fps) that Max Payne, and Call of Duty are amon the bests. There are a lot of them...;)

I have at least 10 favourites for about every genre (fps, rpg, strategy, management, etc.)

I voted for HL 2 but I there wasnt any game what I really like and i think that is the best ;)... there needed to be games like NFSU, GTA too... So I just voted from one of the best i see in this poll...

I voted for Half-Life. I seriously think they are the one that started it all because of the well known game Counterstrike. Counterstrike has been around for Years! and it still commonly played. I still love playing 1.6 even though the graphics aren't the greatest its still so much fun. I actually like 1.6 better then Half-Life2 Counterstrike Source because it isn't as fast paced of a game but still takes a lot of skill.

Star Craft, being the only RTS on the list, I had to pick it. The rest are all FPS. I mean even original StarCraft is going strong with people still playing online. It's a game that will never get boring. ;)

I wish there was NHL 2006 ;) but I'll go with Starcraft even though I've never played it before. I chose it cause people say it's like Warcraft 3 which i really like.

I chose Half Life 2 because the best game EVER is not even there : Medal of Honor : Allied assault. Also Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 should really be mentioned in this thread.

Halo 2 is the best game ever (to be a sequel) it was the funest fps that i have played (although perfect dark zero is starting to be fun ;) )

For me, Starcraft. I spent lot of hours playing that game. Now I don´t play computer games very often.

Well, which game started it all? The only one on your list that could possibly qualify for that is Doom. The rest of the games are way to new to have really started anything. The Doom series (one could even argue for Wolfenstien 3d) started what we now know of as FPS games. There really wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for doom.
I guess I also have to give props to StarCraft too, it certainly wasn't the first RTS game but it was a really good one. And also the first one that I played. It also was probably the first game I played online against other people. I had a blast playing that game online.

You spelled Starcraft as Scarcraft by the way.

I think the best game of all time is Doom. It revolutionized first person shooters and was the high bar for games to come for about 5 years after it came out. None of those other games can say that.

Halo is a fun game but not the best all time. Halo 2 is a great game but not the best all time for sure. All of the others are great games, but just not good enough to be the best of all time.

I don't know if the poll refers to the original Doom but if it does man I love that game. Espescially the mods they have for it and Online Multiplayer. Speaking of which I need to tell my friend to transfr the Doom program over so I can battle him.

Starcraft, definatly. As far as i know its the only game out of those that is remotly active in terms of a community and "pro" scene. Heck sometimes there arem ore people on starcraft then warcraft III, which is a much newer game. (can't speak for thel ikes of age of empires 3 or warhammer 40k/etc. though.)

for a 2nd i'd pick half-life, just becasue i had so much fun playing that game, not to mention it legitimized modding with counter strike, paving the way for many other great mods.

as a runner-up (not on the poll :() Goldeneye for N64. I have had more fun playing goldeneye then probably anyother game back in its day, so many good memories.

I don't know much about the very first games of FPS or RPGs or wathever, I just would like to say that I enjoyed Unreal Tournamenta lot, it has good effects, is not that demanding about hardware and offers good on line options to bust your budys' b***s ;) , yet, when alone I really loved Quake II and Half Life series. I'm waiting for a chance to get Quake 4, I like games with a story also.

Id have to say halflife 2

1. cause i own halo 1-2
2. dont have money for wow (subscripting part...)
3. half life 1 is just lame...
4. starcraft (first off the main guy spelt it wrong or at least NDPA did...) and also its hard to own others online...
5. doom havnt bought it yet but i liked the first one on floppys!!!! lol


so that leaves me with half life 2 its a sweet game plus i like cs that comes with it

I would definetely have to say starcraft. Why? Not only did it have awesome graphics for its time, but it was awesome, addincting and almost any pc could play it. I remember it on a 200 and something mhz pc with cyrix procesor and like 32 megs of ram and I could play it ok. Playing it on bnet was free and awesome.

But the best games out of all time I think would be Civilization (specially II) as the most addictive game.

Also on my list is Toe Jam & Earl. I remember playing it 2 player for thousands of hours, it was never the same, playing it on random made made it have a huge lasting appeal that no other game has ever had. And the characters and the whole game design is like no other game I have played even until now. To bad the sequels were a bunch of crap.

My other favorites are Mario 2, 3, world, 64 and mario kart. Sonic games, and definetely Chronotrigger, Final Fantasy VII and Starcraft. Counterstrike, halo, unreal tournament, and warcraft III. I also liked warcraft 2 and the whole command & conquer series. I have never liked aoe, except the first one.

Has anyone here ever played Toejam & Earl or Civilization?

i would honestly say halo 2. It is really an amazing game. One of the best for xbox. I cant wait for the nest one to come out. Becuase the first two where so amazing.

I would deffinetly say that StarCraft is the best game of all time! What other game has shaped the future for future RTS games? Age of Empires comes close, but StarCraft has withstoud the test of time, having free internet multiplater database with millions of players still today playing world wide, makes this game truly amazing! StarCraft came out 8 years ago and is still considered to many as thier favorite game. With amazing gameplay, incredibly balanced units and a truly unique style of gaming, makes this game one of the most if not the most replayable game. Maybe the graphics are outdated by now, but nothing else! I give starcraft 98% and the best game of all time award.

Doom definitley has to be the best game of all time from your list. The reason for it is becausee it started all the fps and had the best gameplay ever. I honestly say that i come back to playing it all the time when i get bored and just feel like chilling out. IFrst of all, it was extremely long and had a great feel to it. Also, the multiplayer in it was the best one i had played when i was younger. Not only did it have a deathmatch it also had coop which was sooo much fun.

Dude why Call of duty 2 isnt there, is a hell of a game, plus its more realistic than the ones you listed, wich are great games, but i think CALL OF DUTY 2 rocks.

Farcry (PC) anyone? It has to be one of the most immense games around. nice graphics, seriously free roaming, cool vehicles, nice range of weapons and decent AI. It is definitely re-playable and I was doing just that in the last 30 mins :angry:. Along with World of Warcraft - that is the most memorable and enjoyable game I have ever played. Great fun.

I have played all the games in the poll and I think that World of Warcraft is the best. Comparing differnt types of games like in the poll is hard to do because each type of game will have a different criteria. I am a MMORPG person and since there is only one MMORPG on the list I didn't have much choice but I do think that WoW is one of the best games out there.
