What is Counter-Strike?
Counter-Strike is a modification (MOD) to the excellent game, Half-Life. It modifies the multiplayer aspects of Half-Life to bring to it a more team-oriented gameplay. Counter-Strike provides the player with an experience that a trained counter-terrorist unit or terrorist unit experiences.
The MOD is team-based featuring one team playing the role of the terrorist and the other team playing the role of the counter-terrorist. Each side has access to different guns and equipment, as well as different abilities. Maps have different goals such as: hostage rescue, assassination, bomb defusion, Terrorist escape, etc.
Weapons include the usual assortment of pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, grenades, demolition devices. Each side has access to a different subset of weapons so for example only the counter-terrorist can use the M4A1, and only the terrorists can use the AK-47.

I know CS, it was fun before but it's not so popular now...

I have to argue, CS is still one of the most popular online FPSs, whether it be CS or CS:CZ or CS:Source... And is still my most favorite game to play and modify!

Anyway, just my opinion, please don't burst my bubble! lol

yup. cs is quite known.. and most of teh people around our place play it as a pasttime...
but since a mmorpg named gunz came out..smoe have switched there...to be able to see new things in gaming...since both have a similar genre...

Isn't Gunz similar to that HL mod The Specialists. And also Action HL and there was another really old mod but I can't remember the name. It might have been an early version of TS since, if I remember correctly, it the same moves and weapons bar a bit less.

I think at least every second gamer should already know quite a lot about this game. And I agree that it is the most successful and popular game of all times and nations. Hopefully they will not screw up the reputation of counter-strike by switching to cs:source or which is not likely to happene - condition zero!

Now I Don't Think It's Called A Mod For Half Life But a Epaicion Pack For It Because It's A Whole Differnet Game But You Need Half Life (2) To Run It I believe.... This Is All I get From Playing It Twice..... I am A Big Time Gamer For Medal Of Honor Games and Call Of Duty Games As Well. 90% Of Games Are Made As Expoinen Packs Because As I Said In The Halo Topic It all Comes Down To What Makes The Most Money Other One Gamke That Sells For $50 and a Free Game Thats A Add On Or Two Differnet Games That Need Each Other To Run Right They Are Than Maing 50% More Money... It Would Be Less Be Cause Some People Don't Have Counter strike So My Guess Is You make Like 15-20% More Money With That Than Two differnet Games That Run On There Own.

i think that cz is going to take off now that they initiated it into cal. i play cz. my clan is intuition and we are in cal cz o. i will stick with it forever.

Counter Strike is a old skool shooter based on the half life 1 engine. That means that you require half life 1 to play this mod. A mod is based on a already existing game. And that is what a mod is! for anybody that didn't knew. Well i think sinds counterstrike is already in brought out in different versions. and persannaly i think counterstrike 1.5 is the best off all the brought out counter strike's! A lot of weapons and it's the first good counter strike. after the origenal release., that's all cee ya!!!!

Tip: Update the game, and see how many servers there are, it is THE most played online FPS in the world dont you know. People spend more hours onthat game than anything else, and alot more people play it too! not so popular now? HA!
