It's a couple of days old but here goes:

HalfLife2.net news

Quote

According to Eurogamer.net, upon yesterday confirming that Half-Life 2 (and also Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life: Source) had been sent to Vivendi for release candidate testing, they also managed to get some information from Doug Lombardi regarding the release date:

"We don't have a release date from VU at this time, but we're hoping they will put out a release date soon."

And of course, why wouldn't it be soon? Valve are reknowned for their perfection when producing games, something that's clear from the six year development cycle to get us Half-Life 2. With Half-Life taking a mere 48 hours from release candidate stage to going gold, it's pretty clear that we're on the final stretch and the waiting game is nearly over.

Not much longer...

I am itching for this baby to hit the market. Half-Life was a revolutionary game, so there is a lot riding on the shoulders of the sequal. I just hope it can live up to everyones expectations

ah, where did i read it..

dlgamer.com? yeah, www.dlgamer.com, somehow they've got pre-orders set up for hl2, with the date, 15th of november. I'm not sure what stage the pre-loading is at, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else does :(

Right now we're at pre load phase 3. That means most of textures, sounds and models are available for pre load on steam (www.steampowered.com). As for all release dates they are only speculation and guessing, we'll just have to wait a little longer for the official one :(

dreek you are so secksey :( << seany

HL2 is either gonna kick some serious *bottom* and the entire world will be orgasming in their computer chairs, or is gonna be one giant huge big let down where everyone is going to be like holy hell we waited this long for this?!?!

Alternatively it could turn out to be doom3 where it was, in fairness, nothing all that special but lots of people call it the best game ever because the marketing hype makes them think the game is better than it really is.
