Hi friends,
Most of us will be using download managers for downloading the files from the internet. I am currently using GetRight. Please tell about your choice. It will be better if we give preference to freewares in this discussion.

I have been using NetTransport for about 3 years already. The main reason I like it over others is the ability to handle mms links. Interface is similiar to FlashGet.

Technically it's "shareware" but you can use it for free.

Here, I'll link everybody 'cause I would definitely say this is the easiest to use & best one yet.

Flashget, beats everything I have tried. And has a Firefox extension too!

I've used flashget all the way back since it was called JetCar! lol :)
(hmm, before then, there was GoZilla! and before that, there was Getright, which started the whole madness)

I started off with JetCar/Flashget, but it doesn't support for streaming links... mms/rtsp while NetTransport does... & they almost have the same interface like I said before.

FlashGet is the best! Especially the new version. Now it supported Mirror search which automatically search for the fastest server available for the fastest possible downloads.

I have seen this on the Flashget review on Cnet Download.com.

easy,

get Spybot and cleans everything right off.
Don't have a single adware or spyware on my system. In fact, I don't even see Ads anymore cuz of Firefox's ad-block extension :)

Getright for me has always been the best choice. Though their beta isn't always the best to use mostly because it can really screw up a couple softwares in your comp.

I have only had one problem ever with Getright and that was because the Beta was running without me knowing it.

Check this :

www.flashget.com said:

FlashGet Version 1.60 (2004.4)
* Support RTSP protocol
* some small changes
* general fixes

FlashGet Version 1.50 (2004.2)
* Support MMS protocol
* Support command line (flashget.exe [save directory])
[Save directory] is optional. if exist flashget will not popup job's properties dialog
* some small changes
* general fixes

Anyway I think the most professional download manager out there is : [url="http://www.trap17.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2471"]http://www.trap17.co...?showtopic=2471

After starting this thread I have test various download managers on my computer. I am on dial up connection and using Win XP . I am writing my conclusion here:-

Download Accelerator Plus - Adware, so ads slow down the connection

Fresh Download - It does not install on my system I don't know why??

Free Download Manager - Speed is good but sometimes problem in click monitoring

Download Express - Highest speed is good but a lot of fluctuations in speed

Flashget - A lot of people on this forum has suggested this so I gave a try to it . Its speed is good but as soon as I installed it , a lot of popup windows attacked my pc. It has spyware .

GetRight - Old but very stable. Works on every browser but speed is not so much in comparision.

Net Transport - Very good speed . I like it very much. No adware and spyware in it. It lacks only one feature automatic virus scan after downloading otherwise it is very very good.

Leechget - It is the best. Speed is very very good. Very nice interface. Very easy to use. 100% Spyware and Adware free.I recommend it to everyone. Atleast give a try to it.

Note :- These are result based on my testing so may be my personal taste not match to you.

I am also using firefox but its download manager is not so powerful. On my system it never resume after pausing. And it can not resume download after restarting the brwoser. So I am using Leechget now.

How about Download Accelerator Plus!?
It is also good, no significant error has been found.
Simple interface and usage.
Takes small space on your harddisk.
And faster compared to other download manager.

Definitely GetRite

i've tried sun java download manager - it's real crap. very slow.
i've tried a few other shareware/freeware from tucows, but getrite
definitely stands out as the best.

I don't use any download manager, just the built in manager of firefox is enough for me. It supports resume and cancelling, that's all I will ever need anyway. I'm not really demanding when it comes to stuff like that :)

Download either the download manager called Warez. Or if you want to take the completely legal approach, use iTunes or Napster for your musical needs.
