What the above said....lol...
I was browsing the Internet the other day looking for the answer of which processor is the best for gaming, the compared processors are Intel Pentium IV HT E and AMD Athlon 64 (if I am not mistaken...)
Most people say that Intel is better than AMD but also more expensive. While others say then AMD can be over-clocked and is less hotter than Intel.
So know, I want your opinion. Which is the best processor for gaming?
Intel or AMD?
Thank you for the help.

Athlons have superior Floating Point Units (FPU)
No application today makes use of the 64 bit architecture unless you are running Linux compiled for A64.
P4 EE (extreme edition) has like another set of 2mb L3 cache and therefore is ginormously expensive. Can be all the way up to a thousand bucks a piece.
The regular P4 Prescott (800Mhz FSB, 1MB L2 cache) cores perform better than most athlons in a lot of things and are the speed kings of today.

Personally i have run an athlon my whole life, and i find them very very nice, considering that they are a fraction of the price of a pentium 4. They also can be overlocked to very good ammounts. The intels though do have better motherboard options, that is very important in a chip, for instance the new pci express are not on any athlon boards that i am aware of(alert me if i'm wrong).

Right now I am running a Atlhlon XP on my PC a 2100+ and a Intel Pentium 4 3000 on my lap top. They both seem to work amzingly well. But when it comes to games.. I would have to say AMD comes out on top.
AMD seems to be the easier processor to over clock with the lesat amount of chance for damage. I have known Intel's to overheat a great deal.

Hi there!
AMD processors are best in use with linux, unix, solaris and other server/database and firewall programms. [unix/linux/sol can use the 64 bit tech]
Intel processors - Pentium are designed 4 office applications and microsoft operating systems.
the celeron is designed 4 gamers, but i think that the pentium is better 4 gaming. hyperthreading is best used with games like unreal, quake and other 3d shooters.

Even as an AMD lover I must say that at this moment the intel cpu's are better for gaming as amd Athlons (so not an 64bt version). The tests I have seen between intel p4 and amd athlon the intel always was between 5% and 16% faster
The p4 3.2GHz the outpaced the Athlon XP 3200 by about 16% but when you know that the clock speed of the AMD 3200+ is only 2.2GHz the difrent is not that big because it is really 2.2GHz vs 3.2GHz.
btw 2091 would you pleace be so kind to set a normal font all posts I have seen from you have this ugly fat red font and I cannot read it without getting a headage
