If you had the money (like $5000) what kind of system/configuration would you buy for desktop use?
my monster would look like this

- AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (2.4 GHz)
- Zalman CNPS 7000B-Cu cpu cooler
- Corsair DIMM 1GB (533)

- Western Digital Raptor (74 GB) 10000rpm sata 2 times
- LiteOn SOHW-832S dl dvd writer
- Plextor Premium
- NEC Floppydrive

- Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS
- Creative Inspire T7900 7.1 speakerset
- Gainward PowerPack! Ultra/2400 GS GF6800GT goldplug

- Samsung Syncmaster 193P

This would be mine if I had the money for it for sure

bah, if I had all the money...

I would go for this from SGI (Silicon Graphics)

or maybe this from Alienware since I move about a lot.

or my all time favorite: MachL 4.2 (this is a must see!, its just insane...)

i have no clue what you are talking about. is this in some sort of code or something?
anyway theres like a million different brands and stuff so itll be hard to choose just one and computers have 5 million parts (exageration) so i cant tell you what exactly i would want. i know i would want the best parts compiled together in one machine but what is the best? we expirience different results from different brands and theres thousands of brands out there. ill just give a vauge answer. THE BEST.

Since I am not performance freak, I think I would go fro almost silent computer. I wouldn't go for water cooling though, since I think water and fine electronics can't be mixed. I would use heat pipes with 80mm fan blowing at +5V. But system must give some sound and I think fans at +5V are sound kinda "cool and relaxing". Little fan with 5000rpm on my CPU is like wasp buzzing around my head, LOL. I will report about that in the future.
