Well, here goes.

My site is not completely up yet. My previous host went down and I got approved

here. I have a basic package and have applied for and been approved for an

upgrade, but haven't had time to get everything in order to upload.

Am revamping some of my pages, and that will take time. Give me an idea

what you thing of what I do have up, will you please? I have taught myself

html, so don't be too cruel on the negative comments. Suggestions will be

appreciated. I have reduced the dpi to 72 on my graphics and have

compressed what I could of my jpg files to decrease load time.

However, some pages have a lot to load and will take extra time.

I am having some issues with graphics on my site not linking for some

people. This seems to happen Primarily for people who are outside the USA.

If you experience this, PLEASE let me know.

Web Sets by Donna dot com

I am strictly an amatuer, but if you think I can help you with your personal

homepage, please send me a PM.

I'm not too sure that I'd call you an amateur, because you are really good. It nice to see some of the quality sites that look like they were made by real people. Since your's is so nice, and has lots of great stuff in it for people, it's an excellent addition to the web, as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, as far as amateurs go, I'd have to say that you are one of the best  Way to go!

By the way - I'm up in Canada, and you're graphics all seemed to be showing up fine for me.

No offence Mich but i saw your home page and was not very satisfied with the whole set up. By the way why not try and change the back ground? This would make it much better

Thats pretty nice. Id say maybe you should make the "enter site" button a bit bigger and more noticable on the 1st page.

I like the layout of your site, being it is a graphics site it should have a lot of graphics on show and I think you have done this successfully. One little thing I'd like to see is some sort of 'mouseover' effect on your text links. It's personal thing I guess, but I like to see something happen when I hover over a link. I think you should investigate the world of 'Cascading Style Sheets', these will help you a lot in the layout and formatting of your site.

Overall a nice job. By the way, if you're interested my site has a free banner rotation service for graphics related sites like yours. The banners are averaging 1500+ views a month, which can only help to promote your site. If you want to accept the offer, go to http://www.mudmall.com and click on the 'Banner Accounts' link.

Thanks Tyssen. The problem was evidently in my cPanel settings. Will post the solution in the What Is...? forum.

Seems I goofed by putting both sites in my signature. Now I don't know which site you reviewed. I meant to have you review:

Oops. Sorry you don't like my personal homepage. Suggest a new color for me and I will consider it.

I made the mistake of including 2 sites in my signature. The one I really want a review on is

Hmm. Hadn't thought of that. Good idea. Will work on it after I get back from vacation. Need to take a rest from the cold weather here in Mich.

Am just starting to toy with css. Be patient with me and I will coming into the 21st century here soon. Teaching myself simple html has been an adventure. Getting lots of help from people like you on here.

Thank you for this kind offer. I didn't think my site was worthy. I may take you up on this. Do you charge for this? I don't have any trouble linking back to your site with a small graphic button. Do you require it be put in a specific place?
BTW I love your site!!!!! Took a look the other day and was really impressed.

When I first saw your site the colours were not co ordinating and nothing matched and I sort of disliked. But when I stayed for a big longer and the whole design sunk in.. I felt sort of welcomed and i realised it had a really nice homely and personal feel to it. I guess your website has sort of shown YOU in it. It's not one of those amazingly designed and sleek websites but it's original and really pretty. You have lots of cool content and I like the sort of textures on each page.. it stands out

Plus all the images work well for me. There are quite a few things on your site you should change... but I don't think you should change them because your site is a personal one you should design it how you feel and how you like it. You should be proud of what you've produced  And my gosh do you have a lot of awards!

Mich, on the front page of my site there is this information regarding banner acounts.

Quote

We also provide a banner rotation system for you to display your banner on this site for free. While a link-back in return is not required, it is appreciated.

Key phrases: "for free", "link-back in return is not required"

Here's an example, (for my site) of some of the statistics available with your banner account. Each month can be expanded to show which day the banner was clicked.
Posted Image

The whole purpose of the banner accounts is to help others. Hopefully via word of mouth and the occasional link-back it will help my site too. Like you, I gain nothing from the site except the satisfaction of creating something that is useful for others.

Well I am so glad my site grew on you. I have loved the combination of purple and green for a long time. I do realize that combination doesn't do anything for most people, but I just felt the need to run with it as it does indeed "sort of show" my personality.

Suggestions greatfully accepted. Don't be shy. I am very open minded. After all, if I don't like your suggestions, all I have to do is ignore them. They certainly won't hurt my feelings.

Mich, now that I am able to download your zip files, I have a question to ask. Is it your intention to allow those that use your sets to modify them as they see fit? For example, what if they need a button you don't include in your set? Perhaps they want a "Login" or "Members" button, they are commonly used buttons on sites. Assuming the answer to my question is yes, can I suggest you include a copy of the font used to make the set in your zip file. This way they can add as many new buttons as they like.

If do not want people to modify your sets, then I suggest you offer to make any additional buttons they may require. This might mean more work for you because you may need to modify the html as well, but I guess it will allow to maintain the quality of your sets.

Just an idea. :(

And again you come up with something I hadn't thought of. How do you think of all these things? Guess I will have to get busy and add ttf files for each font to my zips. This will have to wait until I am back from my trip away from this cold here in Michigan. I will be getting back with you then on joining your banner account. I also have a banner exchange page of my own that I would be glad to place a graphic link to your site on. I will need a banner or button of some kind from your site; but we can discuss that when I get back. I am leaving maybe Wed afternoon or Thur morning. Keep sending me corrections and ideas, please.

Hi Mich,

I like your website, it shows love for nature, caring and it is distinguished. It gives me a warm feeling. You succeeded in combining technique and art.

Most webdesigns I saw are focussed on high tech (kind of nerdy) and I think when I'm going to design a website it will be nerdy too because I'm a technical person with less focus on feelings.

You can see it is important for you to build a personal website and not a website that is one of all. So from that perspective your site will be remembered easily.

Ok now the technical stuff: I browsed it with firefox and I had no problems, all went well

Page is too massiv. Purple, green, white - it`s doesn`t go in one. Take off that green backgorund, and Bold purple borders and it will be ok, change colors in one word.

I am back from my vacation and need to design a banner that meets your specifications. I have already put a banner/link on my banner exchange page to your site. Any suggestions for a nice banner for mine? My sig is the only one I have at the moment. Will you be hotlinking to the banner or downloading it to your site for use? Oh and, can I change banners at a later date?

Thank you for putting one of my banners on your site, it is much appreciated.

When you create your banner account you need to provide the URL to your banner, so yes, it will be hotlinked. The reason I do this so you can change your banner at any time you choose. However, if you have hotlink protected your directories there could be a problem with this. If you'd rather not hotlink the banner, I could upload the banner to my site for you, but of course you won't be able to change your banner at will then. Another option is to host the banner on a site like imageshack as I have below.

As for a banner, perhaps something like this will do the job? (Probably looks a bit familiar ;))

Hey, I really like the font you used. What is it? That is cool. I am not familiar with imageshack. Will take a visit over there and look around. Meanwhile, Thanks for the sample. Will probably use it, if you don't mind, to start with.

Just what makes a good background and layout? Please go into more detail about what you mean. I guess I am a little dense.
