Personally, I use photoshop 7 (too cheap and no internet on my main pc to upgrade to CS2). When I'm working in linux though, my weapon of choice is the Gimp. Its free and basically does everything Photoshop does, and it can open .psd photoshop format. I really like it...
Also, I use Macromedia Fireworks and Corel Painter some, but not as much as ps or teh gimp.
If you're interested in gimp, check out gimp.org

i don't do much picture editing these days but a few years ago when I did I used Paint Shop Pro rather than photoshop as I found it much easier to use, i guess it all comes down to what you need to do with the software, some people find windows paint covers all their artistic needs.

I agree with you on the fact that Paint Shop is pretty easier to use rather than Photoshop. But if you learn how it works :) Then I will say its the best out there! PaintShop is the one that I used to use..Now I use Photoshop!

Photoshop is what I usually use for those things. If its default photo-editing tools don't match up to your expectations, you can always get plugins for it which just might solve your problems. If all else fails, you can always use another program. I know a lot of people who do one thing to this program, and another with another program. Each program has its own specialty, so it's up to you to figure out. Always remember that what matters is the result, so the best thing to do is probably get the same/better result using the easiest method.

photoshop...or else the gimp. both are heavy though and slow the computer down. but they are pretty much the best and most professional out there. but when all else fails...use MS paint (unless you're on linux.)

I use Paint Shop Pro and am always learning/finding something new in it that I hadn't stumbled on before. When I have mastered it, I will probably try Photoshop  from all the recommendations I have seen about it.
