I have an internetsite for my counter-strike clan. there is an forum very important. its our community <_<. don't know for sure, but think that Vbulletin is the best. phpBB is also bit nice. thought thats standard forum by the most site hostings. any1 know how to get Vbulletin? and what exactly the best difference are? and a preview would be very nice . hope to get an reply soon.

I like phpBB. It's not the best, there should be more features. But it's very easy and nice. With styles you can make it look good.
But i think that ipb may be the best. it's better than phpbb, i know. i haven't used vbullentin, so i don't know.

I don't know which! Just kidding.

I think , best bulletin board is tForum. You can see heavy Modified version on www.elitesecurity.org

But phpBB , features isn't bad...but it's not good forum.

Because that haven't to much features as subforums , attachment...etc...

vBulletin , is ok , IPB is PERFECT.

Again , best is tForum.

Yeah it seems that this is really nice and it is Invision. Though VBulletin isn't so bad.

Best? Whaddaya mean by best?

For example if you don't have mysql and don't need a big board, then YaBB Gold is the best for you, you can run it anywhere.

phpBB is free and very common, easy to setup. One of the best for general purpose I would say.

vBulletin and IPB are "pro" boards, aimed for very large and active communities. Never ran one myself, but I'm sure they have the most features and least bugs. If your board gets a million hits per day, you may wanna upgrade to these...

I always seem to promote SMF Simlemachines Forum. It is currently on release candidates, and is still free, and I really like it. But it hasn't been around for very long and still has its bugs and lacks themes etc...

I personally move towards PHPBB.

Of course vBulletin is one of the best boards you can get for Modding and doing anything you want with it, but its really not a FanSite board its more for the Businesses.

IPB in my opinion is a piece of s**t its got some of the worst modding features, and is a cramped looking forum software.

No for some softwares you may have not heard of OpenBB (http://www.openbb.com) is something that would be suggested for small websites for its basic design and the tools you can play with to make it what you want. Is like PHPBB and vBulletin put together.

whatever you want its all up to you there are heaps of forum softwares out there. If I wasnt running phpBB I would certainly go more towards the OpenBB!

Good Luck!

Youre right alperuzi about the pro stuff with forums.
vB is a very good board , the best and bug-free board around.
Its also got its own complete language , so mods are easyer to code (you must learn vB code though).
IPB is cheaper though , but has less mods.
The good thing about PHPBB is , that its open source , so you can optimise your board very easily (you must know PHP and HTML though).

PHPBB is the best to start off , but when you're gonna pay anyway , I'd save up a bit more and buy vB

I really like Invision Power Boards. I think they are the best, a lot of people told me they are more user-friendly than phpBB, and I'd have to agree. The Admin Control Panel, has more features or is much better organized than phpBB Control Panel and I'm also used to IPB, the only set back is that Invision is starting to charge people for IPB boards.

Just my two cents <_<.

tForum's website does not exist. www.tforum.org

Well try finding the right bulletin board or forum system for your site at http://php.resourceindex.com or at http://www.hotscripts.com

Any more suggestions about forums and bulletins? <_<

People always tell me vbullitin is the best but Invision is nice too. Some other people also suggested to me burning boards, although I rarely see those.
