For a singing robot, watch.

it's from japan
Japan really has the market cornered on singing robots, its a little creepy that they're that good.

wow that was amazing i have never heard that before, the link on the first page is for 2006 so if anyone (like me) is interested in hearing some songs here is new link : http://research.micr...tler/music.aspx

actually the songs are not great but if they produce a software for writing some poems and listen to different songs wich is created using that poem that will be great. previous year i saw a big robot in Dubai which was amazing it was really amazing but the songs which he singed was pre recorded but as the science grows maybe some years later we can hear a good song or even go to a live concert which robots gonna sing in it. anyway microsoft should try to put some better voices for these text to speech or text to sing softwares, the voices currently are terrible.

It'd certainly not make the top ten." <- Someone must have read this comment and made this a few weeks later : :D :D :D

That is so amazing. It reminds me a lot about the viral video on YouTube when Obama had autotune put on him. The text-to-song sounds like something from Portal (The cake is a lie). The concept is pretty neat. The words and lyrics are converted to MIDI that can then be edited for pitch and rhythm. You guys should check out something called Vocaloid which is a more sophisticated singing synthesizer application where you can input syllables and edit dynamics, timing, pitch, formant, etc.

It's pretty neat. There is a pretty cool video on YouTube (Meltdown by Rin Kagamine) showing what the Vocaloid software sounds like. The software produces pretty neat results and sounds very similar to human singing.
