it also helps to make sure that you are having regular sleeping patterns while you are studying or a few days before you start studying. I have found that even sleeping longer than normal does not help it puts the whole day out of sync. For me to get the best results while studying i need to have proper sleep patterns like going to bed around the same time and also sleeping for about the same period everyday. And once you start studying try not going for more 1 hour at a time any longer than that you start losing concentration and then nothing is taken in properly.
Also having a nice quite place to do what you have to without being interuttped or having anything bothering you. It will help you alot having a room away from everyone else in the house or even going to a library somewhere.

everyone has their own study habits. Some people study better in the morning, some at night. Some study better in quiet places where there are little distractions. Some study better with a soft music, etc.
Bottom line you need to know yourself and how best you absorb what you study. No point cramming for hours when nothing gets into your head. Study smart not hard.
also take breaks after every 1hr of studying, it helps ur mind to rest.
Last tip from me, never study on that day itself. Your mind needs to be fresh as you take the exams.

start about 1 month before exams and revise in 30 minute chunks then go do something else for 30 mins then revise for another 30 mins and so on this is the best way to revise because after 30 mins your concentration goes down and so become bored, but one piece of advice dont revise the night before your exam, i did this and totalloy fluffed it i got a D, whoops thats just my advice but im sure many people will tell you the same. this is the best way of revising for normal people but you may be suited to other methods liek drawing mind maps/spider diagrams on the subject, testing your self and or flash cards, these aer jsut a few of the many techniques you can sue. so there you go use this knowledge wisly and remeber dont leave it to the last minute1

The most important tip that I can give is STUDY EVERYDAY.
YES.
Study everyday and you will get good results.
Other tip is study with your mind: This means study without talking, get focus and study with your mind.
Other tip: Disable your computer
. The distractions can get you away your mind. Turn off the Tv and the Stereo
Other tip: Donīt study with other persons. Study alone in your house preferibly.
These tips will help you a lot, put them in practice.
Bye

Maximize your time in school by asking questions and responding to answers. For taking notes, you have to identify what kind of learner you are. For me, writing down notes in my own words inside a composition book that I can refer back to worked fairly well. If something was not understood, the response was something like the following: problem->notes->Google->book->classmates->teacher. Also, I've found that teaching other students helped me remember the concepts a lot. Cramming works when done before final tests, but not for every test and quiz. It's like a temporary burst of information that you will forget in about a week.
Try the suggestions that people put here. If something works, keep doing it. If not, try something else. High school is the time to find out what works for you in terms of studying, not college. The key is to work smarter, not harder. I feel sorry for the kids who are forced to stare for hours into their books by their parents. It's a complete waste of time. Learn to control your anxiety. Doing bad on a test is not going to be the end of the world. Learn to not worry about it. Once you've studied and feel like you've put in decent effort, do something you enjoy. Read a book, watch TV, hang out with friends. Also, get a good night's sleep. If it means having to stop cramming midway through a chapter, do so.
