My university lately instaled a firewall that prevents us from accessing certain websites I heard there are some proxy websites that will enable us to circumvent this firewall
can you post some links of such websites? :) :P

I hate when schools do that, its so annoying and there are always ways around them.

There are a bunch of free web proxies here: http://www.freeproxy...y/cgi-proxy.htm

otherwise just search google for "free http proxies" That will most likely come up with web based proxies along with proxie ip's that you can put into your browser to use.

Hope it helps :) and Good Luck

I don't want to disturb the flow of this thread, but I would like to make a NOTE that, Hosting Proxy scripts on Trap17 free web hosting accounts is STRICTLY prohibited.

Ok since you should know that I have a school comp... and all that stuff, but we have a super firewall, you guys have all the crappy proxies. Here are the good ones:

1) https://www.fsurf.com/
2) https://w8.base-v.ch/ (chinese proxy, find the box, and type a URL, and click the other box...:))

And I will post more when I figure it out, most of those are blocked @ my school.

There is a software named Anonmyity4Proxy that will act as a proxy and allows us to view websites without being blocked by Firewall. This is also faster than the other ways of Proxy acess.

The best proxy is an unknown one that's used only by a few people, so that it never gets blocked by a filtering system. I personally like to use http://cokeclient.com/i/google/1/ to proxy, no filters really block it at all, and it isn't like a paid service that blocks certain areas. Another way to get around filters like that is to use SSL. Most firewall filters don't block ssl, so if the website supports SSL, you're free to go there.

I'm surprise no one posted why schools do this, 1 school computers are used for education not looking up cheats for a game and checking your email or looking at porn. 2 it prevents people from trying to hack websites from a school computer and get away with it cleanly. you have your computers at home to do that junk.

Wow... Saint Michael.. I hate to disagree with a cool member, but your totally wrong on all accounts! :D
Here's why we want proxies, and hate blocks.
  • Can't check e-mails
  • Can't get to Trap17... untill they unblocked it [ :) ]
  • Can't use meebo
  • Restricted access to some websites, you need
  • Blocking is a pain in the arse and clogs up your school comp
  • Causes people to abuse there tech. priveledge and stuff
  • Makes HCPS Schools pay $4,500 ( :) :P :D ) for a freaking little firewall box, has blocked anything and everything they possibly can!... good work (not). 8e6 Tech (Firewalls and Server Managements)
  • Makes students annoyed
  • People could care less about porno and stuff of that nature
  • We want to play a game during study hall or something, check some e-mails that sorta thing :P
Now by no means, I'm going to say that people aren't going to hack the servers (always failed!), or look @ porn and watch that stuff at school, thats just plain wrong. But there are always people that will abuse the right, and thats why its taken away and stuff, so in a sense Saint Michael YES, your right So half of your stuff is wrong, half right. Different to explain in some cases, depends on what type of person you are. B)

Isn't that great when everyone discovered the beauty of proxies... now that so many people are using proxies to access blocked website at school such as MYSPACE, the school is also blocking every single proxy sites that students used to access.

If i where to search for cgi proxy hosting site .. .all of them are blocked.. even the offical site for cgi proxy is being blocked. I tried to do my fellow friends a favor by hosting proxy on my site at first.. .then after i found out it was against the TOS .. and go suspended for.. I learned my lesson the hard way.

Well.. thanks Whyme for the list of the proxies.. I hope the site isn't blocked by my school firewall. .I can't even check anything with torrent.php. It's not like i'm going to stay in school just to download movies with bittorent.. they had to be stupid and block that too..

PS. Does anyone know any free hosting site that allows proxies to be installed on their site?. I really want to host a proxy site.. .(without paying for hosting myself). It would be great if there are proxy clients that allow users to LOGIN in order to use the proxy, to prevent server resource usage..

For those interested in locating proxies (at home, by all means) there is a software tool called Proxyrama that is available. And for the programmer-minded, the source code is also available. From the website:

Quote

Proxyrama is a tool for finding and testing proxy servers. it will test them for anonymity, speed, if it's a gateway proxy, 'connect' support (=chainability), socks 4/5 support and geographical location. furthermore, it can be used as a local proxy server that redirects your traffic through a arbitrarily long chain of anonymous proxies and let's you skip images, multimedia crap, ads, popups etc.

I've played around with it and found quite a number of working proxies but, at this time, I really have no use for it. It's just going to end up burned on a DVD and added to my mounting collection of archived software.

III - Hey Guys, I have a comment. the school blocked our internet service fully, so we could not access the internet at all. me being a nerd, I unblocked my mates and my internet, and surfed freely. if you need to surf the internet, without being spotted, use this

http://www.fsurf.com

basically, what the school does is registers and saves each websites IP Address that people MAINLY visit, so proxies are designed to HIDE the IP Address of the website you wish to view. I Figured that www.fsurf works pretty well. Listen to my advice INADVANCED users!

Ok there are a few types of internet security, some more vulnerable than others.

ok heres a simple way.

http://www.filtersne...proxy=cgi_proxy

^^go there and type it in the box next to "surf"

that should work on most, but if it doesnt, try this one (ill add more in a sec..)

Proxies can be a bad idea. I got in quite a bit of trouble using one for a second to show a friend a video I made on YouTube. I will be nice and tell you the proxy because it is pretty well known at my school but it is not blocked.

https://vtunnel.com

You must use the secure protocol though.

I try to use proxies for important matters. This excludes games, game cheats, (especially)myspace, other social networking crap...

I will use them for forums, getting onto a yahoo groups account for talking to my band members, but most importantly, with some school assignments, some of the information that you need is blocked. This always sucks because it hinders your school work...

So in short, I give you the adress to some proxies hoping that you will not carelessly use them, and try to use them for things that actually matter.

https://2hide.net (notice the https... most blockers will not block this website due to how uncommon it is)
http://vtunnel.com ( I think things like atunnel.com, btunnel.com, ctunnel.com... etc exist... so lots of possible unblocked ones there)

That is pretty much all...

but then you can always use this method (for Ie explorer):

Step 1: Select tools on the file, edit, view, favorites, tools, help bar at the top of your browser.

Step two: open up internet options, look under the connections tab, click LAN Settings
Step three: Check the "use automatic configuration script box"
Check both boxes under the proxy server heading
Enter the ip adress, and the port number and your good.. (by the way, I don't know how you figure out the ip adress or the port number... but if you can figure it out, you should be good.)
Step four: click ok.

Unfortunately this results in reduced performance...

Well there you have it... and I hope you do not choose to use this foolishly....
