Yeah, I see what you mean but you can't put a lot of things in an image that size, so I'm going to make an animated one.

Hey well they iight but i think we should keep the buttons same to the homepage and make them a little bit more interactive you know., like add some little bit of flash and animation to the buttons. now that would be sexy.

The idea behind a 88x31 'button' is that it is an image (possibly animated), not a Flash animation. Such pictures are generally intended to represent a site, such as on a 'top-list' or affiliates area etc.
