The blocking system at school for blocking websites is stupid. It blocks pretty much any website you go to. If you go to school what is the blocking system like there? By the way I am posting this of a school computer :)

If you want to get around your draconian cencorship software check out this site: http://peacefire.org/ Ofcourse, please only use this information for legal/legit purposes. They're awsome...their circumventor software even works to breach china's firewall!

We have blocking software, the two biggest blocks they have, which really bother me is about.com (the name suggests educational) and yahoo.com (I don't understand this one) but I've found that if you just want to read the content of a page, for reasearch or whatever you can use the google cach to view a recent copy of that page.

lol, same thing for me, but you could get around that by going to www.google.co.jp or other country based google search engine. For some reason, google.com image doesn't work, but my school didn't block yahoo image; which i found really stupid.

At my school we have a filtering system because they say that people spend too much time accessing non-educational sites. They also block any site that is deemed inappropriate by someone sat in an office somewhere. So, when it came to my ICT coursework, creating a website on smoking, when searching for "smoking" we got every single site blocked.
A little bit of now-not-so-common sense would go a long way to getting these filtering systems working properly.

My old school didn't have internet access for the kids, but for the office, they had what they claim is strict filtering. I don't know the details, but it probably wasn't some enterprise solution. I bet it was something like a Norton internet suite, with whatever content filtering it has turned on. My current school also doesn't either provide us with Net access, but I would appreciate it.
