We have introduced a link Exchange Script at Trap17.

The categories are yet to be setup. It will be done as we receive link requests.

That is a very nice little site OpaQue. Good job on making it. I am sure a lot of people will appreciate having that here at Trap17 to help get their site going. At first I thought you set up a place to download like coding scripts but this is still better. Nice work

Looks good, but what is required in the "Reciprocal Url" field? I'm trying to suggest a link but I can't get past that field.

So, this is to make a list of Trap17 sites or something? It´s a great idea. But I also don´t know what is that "reciprocal" thing... and I suppose no one knows (besides Opaque) because the only two links are Xisto and Astahost ones.

The reciprocal link is just a link to a page on your site that has a link back to Trap 17 on it. You have to have this code somewhere on your site:

<a href="http://www.trap17.com">Free Web Hosting</a>

Then you set the reciprocal link to the page with that code on it.
Brilliant site Opaque and hopefully we will end up with a list of most of the sites here at Trap 17.
Do we know how long it takes Alexa to get the picture to appear?

That was what I thought, but that didn't seem to work. No matter what I entered in that field it didn't want to accept it.

Well, if it can be updated then it'll be nice, the reason is that it shows the Alexa's snapshot of the webpage...is it possible to put our own - it will be a nice choice for those who dont have any alexa rating (just like me)

The RECIPROCAL link tab is the place where we check if there is a link back to Trap17.com :-)

So, if I have a link at http://www.mudmall.com, that is the URL I should put in there? That is the URL I was trying to put in and it wouldn't accept it. Does it have to be a text link perhaps?

For example, you placed following backlink to Trap17 in your index.html page

<a href="http://www.trap17.com/">Trap17 Hosting</a>

, the text line for URL would be your domain, i.e. yourpage.com and RECIPROCAL URL would be yourpage/index.html

I'm not sure if this advice would be true but if you have other Trap17 links in that page, try making backlink to Trap17 the first one. When I was registering for GFXTrap.com, I had to try few times until I made sure that www.trap17.com was the first link before www.trap17.com/forums showed up. I haven't had the chance to study the link exchange script but perhaps the crawler sees the first keyword "trap17" and if it's any different, it rejects it.

That's wierd, the page just goes to a 404 error after I submit.

Try it again, dooga. I just added Trap17 and it worked just fine.

Here's a thought: if you have robots.txt that disallows a crawler to visit a directory, but you assigned reciprocal page within that directory you need to change your reciprocal page to place that is not blocked for crawlers.

It is still running

To add yourself, you choose which category you think your site would best fit in. Say for instance you have a site about Queen (a rock group), then you'd click General Category on the main page and then on that page, Music.

Then at the top of that page, you'll find a Suggest Link button. It is there where you enter your details.

Are there going to be more catagories added or is it just going to be a directory of music and programming because i would like to add my sites but they dont fit into any of those catagories.

Yes, there'll be category I'm sure, Opaque's first post explain it all, its just that they havent allocate categories into it... This is a nice link exchange, with so many webmaster around trap17, I'm sure this will really bring traffic into our websites!
