Are you in university? Some universities offer free internet at home to their students.

no i am not in university... what is university? i am looking for something like this "go to www.your-freedom.net
download it and register an account for yourself.

download java and install it
install yourfreedom

open it, configure it as follow:

adress: ems12.your-freedom.de
port: 443
protocol: https

proxy adress: 196.11.240.241
proxu port: 8080
username: mtnmms
password: mtnmms

leave proxy domain empty

do above settings same with ftp settings in your freedom

ok now save.

ok now right click on my computer, properties > hardware > device manager > modems > properties > advanced. then enter this in the field

AT+CGDCONT=,,"myMTN"<cr>

now open your opera browser, go to Tools > preferences > advanced > network > proxy servers.

tick the 1st 4 boxes, make their proxys 127.0.0.0 and their ports 8080

now click ok, now press F12 and say id as Opera

now create a dialup connection and use the dial number *99***1# and make username and password mtnmms" but that is only for MTN users...

Im not completely understandig you here. Free internet is virtually impossible unless you live in someone elses wireless internet zone (lol). You will need to pay something. The prices of dial up have been dropping so mayby you can get that (for very cheap).

Yeh i am of the same thought as Panzer, all isps are really only in it for the money. The only way i know of getting "free" internet is something like sky tv offer where users who have a certain contract "the most expensive one!!!" get internet thrown in for no charge.

Either that or as said use someone else wireless or other type of network. (which usually is illegal).

I also visited the "your-freedom" site and to me it just looks like an annonymous surfing tool to let you bypass blocked websites etc by bypassing the proxy, for example if a site is blocked at work/school by using YF you can still visit it. It doesnt offer free internet as far as im aware.

well if you want free braod band internet its easy, run a splitter from one of your neighbors houses, get your modem hook it up, then walk into the cable company go to the 2nd floor where the internet department is, sit at the 3rd desk, log in using the name and password as.. username and password : Iama Idiot Also its case sensitive.

then just go the the create a new account. and enter all your info. once you complete all that make sure ou insert your mac address into the account. but wait until it promps your for it.. whn it ask you what service you want get the best package they offer.. and then you are done.. yuup its that easy everyone should try and get free internet service..

and if you believe this your an idiot. and I truly dont think there is a way to get legally free internet service.. so why try and steal a connection from someone else

Free Internet is not possible anyway. You may try Broadband connection being a cheap alternate than ordinary dial up connections.
Good luck

I guess you became tired of posting hey? This was copied word for word from another forum site but it is quite a small site and more aimed at South Africans.

I second what is said here. There is no way to get free internet in this world. You have to pay for it. Why bother using dial up when cable is so cheap nowadays. Sometimes you are paying more for dial up especially if you are a heavy user like me. 100 hours a month? Sounds pretty impossible wouldn't it? I am only paying SGD 50.00 a month for unlimited usage of my cable internet.

Other than connecting to a wireless network using a network adapter (infrastructure connection), there is also getting it through another computer which has internet access. Something called an ad-hoc connection. I am sure you can look it up into wikipedia or google as to how to set it up. But your best chance of getting free internet is connecting to other wireless connections. A lot of people are not exactly IT-savvy, so you could tap into their insecured connection.

But be prepared for the internet to go off anytime, so it would not be wise to play MMORPG or download large files using their connection. My advice to you still stands, get your own internet connection and pay for it.

Sky also gives you free internet if you order a package from them.

You can also go to the library. The library near me has a fast internet and a wireless router which is used to connect laptops to the internet.

Just to get the obvious out of the way: using someone else's Internet connection without their permission is against the law in most countries and carries a prison sentence in most territories! For more information see the following articles:

With that out of the way, down to your actual question. Yes, if you use someone else's Internet connection they will very easily be able to tell you're doing it. They will be able to tell how much you've downloaded, when, using what device and possibly where you've been.
