As far as I know, changing languages is only possible in Windows XP Media Center Edition. If you have any other version of XP, you'd better go to backup your data and do a fresh install.

Best regards,

How To Change Windows Xp Language ?

http://www.Microsoft.....Multilanguage ahh link has changed..Sorry this next one is the good one.
The MUI Pack allows each user of a workstation to select one of the installed User Interface languages
This selection is then stored in their user profile
When a user logs on, the appearance of the system change to the selected language. This means you can have frencha and other languages only create more users ^^

=========================================================================
The Windows XP MUI pack only works with Windows XP Professional Edition.
The MUI files cannot be installed on Windows XP Home Edition.

A 32-bit MUI pack can only be installed on 32-bit Windows XP. You must use
A 64-bit MUI pack on 64-bit Windows XP. The number of supported MUI languages
On 64-bit will be different from 32-bit XP.

Hope that helps

Japanese to english
How To Change Windows Xp Language ?

Replying to wischi

Sadly just setting your language to the preferred one in <control panel> <regional and language settings> will not do. All this does is lets you see JUST the date in your language and maybe show currencies and time related info as per the language you choose. I havn't found it to do anything else.

After going through numerous forums, I've seen that there's perhaps no way around this problem other than re-installing your system with the preferred language version of windows, which means you have to shell out more money.

Thank you Bill!

To change the whole system language you should install newer service pack with different language.

For axample if you have XP SP2 in ENG and want to have it in Italian, you will have to download SP3 in Italian, change some registry keys (go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlNlsLanguage registry key, and then change the value date for “Default” and “InstallLanguage” registry value from 0409 to 0410) and you'll be able to install it in Italian.

If no problems occur, you will have the whole system language changed. Here is the list of numbers that represents each language in registry:

Ok...... Find an English computer...... go to a torrent site......download an english version of windows in an iso file..........burn it to a CD with ImgBurn........Put it in CD-Drive......turn off laptop....turn it back on.....it should boot from CD.....install windows english.... :)

If it's not booting from the CD, try changing the BIOS settings. Also, try the Regional > Language thing. :)

To change the whole system language you should install newer service pack with different language.

For axample if you have XP SP2 in ENG and want to have it in Italian, you will have to download SP3 in Italian, change someregistry keys (go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet001ControlNlsLanguage registry key, and then change the value date for “Default” and “InstallLanguage” registry value from 0409 to 0410) and you'll be able to install it in Italian.

If no problems occur, you will have the whole system language changed. Here is the list of numbers that represents each language in registry:

I can confirm that this does work.  I was tasked with troubleshooting a mahcine for work tat came from a client office in Guatamala.  I applied SP3, changed the registry keys as stated to 0409 = "en-us;English (United States)" and everything is working fine in English.

I too can confirm this worked!  I have a laptop with XP Home Edition in English, with English SP3 installed.  Then I changed the registry key to Chinese Simplified, and then installed Chinese SP3.  And everything is now in Chinese!
