I'm a great fan of Sophie Kinsella's books. She is famous for her chicklit Shoppaholic series.

Her writing style is humorous and informal, which makes it very engaging. So engaging that I am tempted to start shopping each time Rebecca Bloomwood splurges on something :P

In Kinsella's stories, the protagonist often hits a very bad spot in life, but climbs back with the help of friends, family, but mostly with her own resourcefulness, resilience and determination. Hence, they not only make entertaining reads, but are also very inspirational and encouraging.

Books by Sophie Kinsella:

Confessions of a Shoppaholic
Shoppaholic Takes Manhatten
Shoppaholic Ties the Knot
Shoppaholic and Sister (My favorite!)
Shoppaholic and Baby
Domestic Goddess
Can You Keep a Secret?
