Are there any members from Asia here, especially Hong Kong, China and Singapore? Long time ago, I have experienced the .st redirect domin name service, it is completely free to register a domin name such as yourname.hk.st (Hong Kong), yourname.cn.st (China), yourname.sg.st (Singapore). It is fast and simple to create an account and redirect to your original site; short and easy to remember for your web's visitors. If you are not a Asian, don't worry, you can also use this free stuff, but it depends on you whether you accept a Asian domin name or not.

And speaking of domains...

Does anybody know of a free one (where you don't have to live in Asia), that works well, and doesn't have ads? I mean, .tk could be used, but it uses popups, and seems slow to me.

Could use any suggestions, of course.

I have used .tk domain name, it was good but there was a annoying popup when someone want to check my website. After that I have tried www.uni.cc and it is good. It is just like .tk domain name. You can register your domain for free here. You have the options for redirecting your site or you can use DNS service.

Ok, Check www.finaldesign.tk and try to find if that annoying popup show's?? How is that possible? Well pretty simple. When you register your account/domain at dot tk you must read what it says in contract. Before submitting your domain name ther is a little CHECK BOX that say's I don't want any dot.tk advertisments... or something similar.. After that checkbox checked you will have an clean dot tk domain. If popup starts to open after few weeks just check again that checkbox at mydottk.

That's the power of knowledge.

Well i might use the domain co.nr . It seems to be very cool and all you need to do is put a little tag on your website that will have the co.nr logo on it then you can use it for free. There is also cjb.net that doesnt require you do anything as far as i know. So check those out as well guys, maybe you will like them and use them .

Well, you mentioned .st, where do we get it?

Go anywhere here:
http://www.sg.st - Singapore
http://www.hk.st - Hong Kong
http://www.cn.st - China
http://www.tw.st - Taiwan

That is all...
No other country is represented there... however, anybody CAN register with any of these domain names.

Isn't .tk just shorter?

http://googlue.tk
or
http://www.googlue.sg.st

You decide and opt!

I'm probably going to use now.nu or ne1.net. I don't like .tk because of the pop-ups and it's too... mainstream/popular. Everyone knows about it now. It'd probably be fitting if I used cn.st or hk.st (I'm Chinese.), but they just don't roll off the tongue very well. I would have decided on co.nr except for one factor, that I'm not going to elaborate on.

Have you ever heard for co.sr domain ? It is also FREE and also with no ads. I think it is official name for Suriname, but I'm not sure and I don't have time to search again. You can register it here but use IE because their site is not optimized for Firefox  .

I am using them for a long time and the only crash I remember was few days ago, which is now fixed.

P.S. .hr domain is free for companies but who are from Croatia (Hrvatska), the same is for co.yu (ex-Yugoslavia, now Serbia & Montenegro).

Greetz to ya all. :)

COM stands for "commercial". ST stands for SiTE. Using a .st domin name gives your visitors a less commercial image, therefore it is more suitable if you want to build a non-profit making website or just for interest. Personally I am using it too, it is user friendly and easy to use, the most important thing is it is FREE OF CHARGE.

Yes, unfortunatley everyone has to pay a price to have an identity on the web.

Wether it be money or ads everyone gets sucked into the domain hole

Singapore domains are controlled and can be applied only by local companies with proper reg. numbers. recently they open a .sg domain and can ge applied by others not in the business. But .sg domain is not available to most reg.companies, I think I only came across a few of the so far. I think it will not be free at all like what you all mentioned.

Hey!! but if you like short subdomain try this --> qn.com ---> yourname.qn.com
I think short url is good - easy to remember but the problem will come to you if you use with php to set cookies(disable). The good way to solve this problem is redir.. and open new window with javascript but your account may be delete... :)

tk is the best free domain that exist. probally the most common one to. ppl always starts with .tk then move on to .com if they think their site have succeded on its purpose. then move to pay hosting. instead of getting .tk and these weird free domain. why don't u get a real payed domain for $5 an year. its cheap. work at fast-food resturant for one our every year or something. u can get it at yahoo domain

The best way is to buy one :D or to get one like banner for address I need something like this, there are forums like posts for domain like this one is for hosting :P but you must to get 1000 posts and be active, this is to much :D I will rather buy a domain than spend all those many for internet beacause I use dial-up B)
