Hey, i'm using qupis free hosting and clean url's are disabled because it says the server doesnt support clean url's.
Is there anything i can do to make clean url's enabled? I heard mod_rewrite is required in apache to enable clean url's in drupal cms

sorry my bad, the mod_rewrite module was loaded by apache.
actually my drupal installation isnt installed in the root folder itself but instead is installed in a subdirectory.
intellectual-nirvana.qupis.com/papers
so there's two .htaccess files. One in the root directory and one in the /papers subdirectory where drupal is installed. the .htaccess file in the drupal subdirectory has set the re-write rules.
can you give me any suggestions on how to get clean url's working?

Unfrtunately, I do not have access to a phpinfo from Qupis to check the Apache Directives on that site.
And I am not a Drupal expert, either.
Only thing I can suggest is to review the entire install procedure and check (double-check) the Configuration settings for the use of Mod-rewrite, particularly.
You say the Drupal is inside a sub-folder off the public_html folder? is the htaccess set to recognize this?

a way to show phpinfoClean Url's
- Enable the PHP filter module.
- Create a node of any content type.
- Type any name you like in the title field.
- Type the following in the body field:<?php phpinfo() ?>
- Select "PHP code" in the Input format field (you must expand the field).
- Save the node.
I don't know if this works in your environment, but this method shows me the output of phpinfo.
