The best....

I think that the best os in fact of ease of use (and hardware compatibility :P) is Windows, but... the one that works better is clearly Linux.

but,

since I'm too lazy to learn how to run a program by typing "program -ow -x 300 -a 'zxcv -tghj -p9'" I use windows :P

With GUI's such as Gnome and KDE being implemented, you don't have to type 'program -ow -x 300 -a 'zxcv -tghj -p9' to start anything, you just need to click on it as you would with Windows.

Many of the Linux flavors are becoming more like Windows in the way that the user interacts with them, and are becoming much easier to use.

:P

of course, but there is a big selection of command-line-only softwares... for example.. tar, or gcc (the only way I can use gcc is through an IDE :P )

I think Windows is the most user friendly. I don't have to spend much time figure out how to get the work done on Windows. Also, the knowledge base is intensive that I can troubleshoot from the info it offers. But Windows needs reboot more often.

You left out Fedora Core and SuSE. They are also a MAJOR Linux distro.

Also, you left out the most popular UNIX, Macintosh.

I would vote for SuSE but, there's no options for it!

Macintosh isn't UNIX -- MacOS, however, is based on UNIX.

Macintosh != MacOS.

Windows isn't exactly what you'd call 'reliable'. 'Compatible', maybe, but not reliable.

Due it's constant stream of bugs and other flaws, especially in the security and stability department, Windows is one of the least-reliable widely used operating systems on the market.

MacOS X and above :P . You cannot get any easier for an installation of the OS. And installing applications is generally drop-and-drag. I wouldnt mind trying some other OS's though.

If you keep your windows system fully updated with the right virus protection and try to keep it clean, windows can run really fast. The only reason i use windows is because of compatability and the large amount of good games for it. I play a lot of games so linux probably wouldnt work for me.

i didn't vota but i dont think that it would be fair to as with any vote you must understand all the choices and i dont i have only used widows and find it to be a fine program i have had problems but they can be fixed by my father who thinks he knows mare than me and i let him although i think my 7 year old cousin knows more
the point is that i have no expirience with the other os so i didn't vote

I know how it feels to have a parent who thinks they know it all - my mother does the same. Although, she does get my computer fixed when it's broken, but anyone can really do it with enough time.

Personally, I prefer Windows with a Different Shell, but that's because of my limited PC. (Ram and Processer, and all that neat stuff.)

Although, I do like Linux Alot.. so I can't vote, whereas I can't decide.
