Hi,

I am having some serious problems with my sub domains. I registered a site with trap17 named http://zoebelkin.co.cc .

Then I made 2 sub domains for the site. One is for the forums section and the other is for the gallery section.

1> forums.zoebelkin.co.cc
2> gallery.zoebelkin.co.cc

Whenever I type these in the browser adress bar the browser gives an output that it cannot find the web sites. But they are complete and should show something.

Also using www. in front of the sub domains didn't help. Is www. needed in front of the sub domains. Could you just clarify where is the problem???

I cannot also acces my site zoebelkin.co.cc with www in front of it. I am a newbie so please clarify in detail how to set up a domain and a sub domain. What is an addon domain. I also cannot access my mail server mail.zoebelkin.co.cc from Outlook Express.

I am having serious problems so if you need any more details please reply to this topic and I will surely add them as reply to this post. I need your Support immediately.

Thanks in advance.

When was the last time your nameserver was updated? Because your nameservers are still shown as:

NS1.CO.CC
NS2.CO.CC

If these were changed recently, you must give proper time before it can resolve completely. It may take up to 72 hours. Unless you know what you are doing, your nameservers should be:

ns.computinghost.com
ns2.computinghost.com

Not having proper nameservers also hinder you from resolving to your domain properly.

And when visiting gallery.zoebelkin.co.cc I see that it redirects to zoebelkin.co.cc/gallery/
If you set a redirect from subdomain to your domain/folder please disable it. Or perhaps once your nameserver is set properly this all be resolved altogether.

Please familiarize yourself with TRAP17 README.

In there, you'll find that "name server" or nameserver for Trap17 are:
ns1.trap17.com
ns2.trap17.com

You will also need to change your domain name from tribunedesign.trap17.com to heartlesscreations.com using the process page--this will cost you 15 credits. NOTE: before you change your domain name, you must unpark and delete all add-on from your cPanel to make this change successful.

Once your cPanel reflects the correct domain name and you updated your nameserver, it will take anywhere from 24-72 hours for to propagate. The next time when you type heartlesscreations.com it will be linked with your Trap17 hosting service.

I have found that you had mentioned the above two nameservers to another member who also had some problems with his dns.

Now you tell me the above two nameservers in the previous posts.

The link to the post is

YOUR POST

So which one should I use. I am using Beta Hosting Plan of Trap17. Or will both work for me.....

The nameservers were changed recently, from *.trap17.com to *.computinghost.com The post you have linked to is from 2006, and therefore out of date. The nameservers should therefore be:

ns.computinghost.com
ns2.computinghost.com

Also, both of your links are now working for me. It looks like you fixed the problem.

I tried using the following links:

1. http://zoebelkin.co.cc <Worked>
2. http://www.zoebelkin.co.cc <Worked>
3. http://forums.zoebelkin.co.cc <Didn't Work>
4. http://gallery.zoebelkin.co.cc <Didn't Work>
5. http://rebeccaharper.co.cc <Worked> //This is a parked domain on my original domain zoebelkin.co.cc
6. http://www.rebeccaharper.co.cc <Worked>
7. http://www.forums.zoebelkin.co.cc <Didn't Work>
8. http://www.gallery.zoebelkin.co.cc <Worked>

So why are all these not working. Only the ones which are coloured red did work. The rest just gave the result that they couldn't find the web site. I'm using MSIE 6 & I've tried two separate computers & two different types of Networks. I have also checked it by means of EGPRS & 3G on two different of my Mobile Sets and it's not working. They also give the result that they couldn't find it. So will you please tell me separately which of these links work for you.

Also one more question. Is www.domain.com & domain.com different. That means can I access www.xxx.xxx for a site or sub domain whose real ddress is xxx.xxx. Will both redirect me to the same page.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. to my previous post.

This is the error message given by MSIE 6 when I'm trying to access the sites which I've marked <Didn't Work>

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

Cannot find server or DNS Error

I hope this helps you out a bit.

Thanks again.

I can't see a problem with any of your sites at all. They all work and go where they are supposed to. This means that you must have set the site up correctly, and may be a problem with your ISP's DNS server or something.

Technically there is a difference. WWW. is in fact a subdomain, but is used by most sites to differentiate the web server from the FTP server and the mail server. Usually, most sites default to displaying the web server anyway, so it makes very little difference, but it does matter on a few sites.

Co.cc are the best in my opinion for free "domains" - there really just subdomains though then again .uk.com for example is sometimes found on sale for £30 ($60) for a year so its not too bad!
