I tried downloading my email from website this morning and Thunderbird said it couldn't access it the server. Then I tried loading my website - to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is anyone else experiencing this? Seems like this is the second time this spring this has happened. Is an upgrade going on, or something? Thanks in advance for your help!

Xisto are physically moving their servers - there's an announcement on Xisto support about it.

They've been down since at least 7AM BST (when I woke up and realised I couldn't check my email ), so nearly 12 hours now.

I have experienced the same thing since this morning (9.oo am GMT, it is now almost 7 pm), the only thing is, my site does load, but it is only since about 2 hours ago I can access the forum here, before I constantly got the message (I use Firefox as my browser) "This site is taking too long to load". When I try to access my Trap17 Cpanel, the login screen appears, but ends up in giving me an empty white page.
I can ping my smtp server (the one in the name of the domain I have hosted at trap17), but when I try to send email I get "Unexpected failure, please try later", the same when i try to access the Trap17 SMTP or POP3 server.

I am glad someone mentioned the announcement on Xisto, as, since I raised a ticket with them many hours ago, I never received a single reply.
This is all highly annoying and I really hope it will not go on for much longer.
I am very fortunate I finally managed to access the forum so i can add a bit of credit.

In all fairness, moving all their servers from one datacentre to another is a big and complicated task; it's likely all the people were too busy with the servers to answer your ticket quickly. Not to mention they probably had hundreds of similar tickets from other people who were wondering what happened.

http://www.xisto.com/network-status shows all the servers as being online again, but I'm still having trouble with mine. I am on a very slow (GPRS) connection, though - it might just be that.
Can anybody else get on?

Nope, the same problems are still going on this end.
(Email and control panel still hopelessly down).

Yes, Serverph - I'd say you're probably right. Here it is going on 3pm and I still can't access my site, though I notice that several other trap17 sites are up and running. Curious. And as it turns out my site's been down since last night. This seems excessive.

Yeah, it's funny how customers wonder what's happening when they're kept in the dark. "In all fairness," staff could have avoided all those trouble tickets (or at least the majority) had they posted something - anything - at the trap17 forums when they knew a migration was going to take place. A little head's up would have been both the professional and courteous thing to do. As it stands, we were only alerted to the cause of the problem because a newer member took it upon himself to investigate the matter at headquarters after the fact. If admin would please chime in with the estimated uptime of the remaining down sites here in the support forum we'd appreciate it. I for one need to access my site as soon as possible.

Coincidence is non-sequitur, therefore everything has a reason for its existence (except if they are eternal).

Not necessarily. Some people don't take the time to search for and look at the topics concerning Trap17 or Xisto in general, especially when they believe submitting a support ticket will solve their problem. The server movement does not affect Trap17 alone, it also affects other Xisto hosting sites. It is proper and much more convenient to post at XistoSupport than to go into each forum and make a topic concerning this. And since Trap17 forums have been down for a while (i'm still feeling some lag on my side), the Trap17 forums shouldn't currently be relied upon for making announcements.

my site works but i cant access my control pannle so i thought it was just my luck so can i assume that the reason why my uni.cc DNS donain is not working is because of this. how long do you expect this move to go on.

If this topic is any indicator, customers who "believed" they would receive a response via your suggestion have in fact not. When staff has foreknowledge -however slight - that individual websites will be down for a length of time, than that information should be disseminated through the channels that customers frequent as a matter of course before maintenance. I do not, as a matter of course, visit xisto.com before getting down to the business of editing my website. I expect my site to be up a majority of the time as promised, which thankfully - it has been, for the most part. I do, however, log in to my website through trap17.com, since that is where login access for my cpanel is located. It is most certainly not convenient for me to visit xisto.com prior to accessing my website to check on announcements that apparently appear after the fact. And it is inconvenient to attempt several login attempts at my website, post a valid question at the SUPPORT forum, wait for a response from admin only to receive apologist rhetoric from a moderator. I request admin confirmation of this moderator's statements.

Not all Computinghost accounts were affected. It was suppose to be for VPS accounts only unless stated otherwise. I received an email because I am also on a paying server.

It looks like the whole server IPs are being shifted but no word on why Trap17 was also part of request failure. I'll try to keep you updated as my own free web hosting is down.

Yes, it is a mess, isn't it?
Fortunately, my web site still loads. (At least it does on my machine, I have not asked anyone else to test it from a remote computer yet).
However, I cannot access my Trap17 cpanel yet, have not been able to do so the whole day (and now part of the night too), and I still cannot send/receive email from my domain name email.
Not only that, the Trap17 SMTP server does not seem to work either.

Very annoying, as I have newsletters to send out, do updates to my site, etc.

I managed to get onto the live chat on Xisto, and the rep there said (that was roughly an hour ago) the senior administrators were dealing with the router.
He also said they would reply to my ticket (only raised 15 hours ago) as soon as they got a result.

Getting really desperate now....

Hello, Today I went to check on my bandwidth (something I do when i'm bored) for my website. Well, when I finished typing in my username and password it started to load my cpanel, and it changed the URL to the long URL for the actual cpanel, but when it was done loading the page it just gave me a blank white page with absolutely nothing on it. I have tried logging in with 4 different machines, 3 at school and one here at home. I have read about cpanel problems in other threads and have tried the suggestions in them, but with no success. I can modify my files using my ftp manager still, so I can still update my website when needed; however, I do need to be able to watch my bandwidth because I have just made a new page for my church website that is using a bit more bandwidth then I'm used to, so I'd like to be able to watch my bandwidth. This is a bit of a priority for me because I do alot of my editing at school which I have to use the cpanel for (I can't use an ftp manager there). Thank you in advance for your help.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the only thing I have changed in the past week or two is files (adding, editing) for a shoutbox. And for the 12 hours leading up to the problem I hadn't changed a single thing, I had only logged in to check my bandwidth a couple times.

The servers were migrated since yesterday, and so there was down times all over the xisto network as they were moving everything to some new server storage. Odds are it will take a couple of days for everything to be cleaned up and back to normal.

So yesterday i got my domain or hosting name. It told me to go to /cpanel to access it. It takes me to the frontend cpanel and doesn't load. Was very excited to get me website up. Well, if any staff you help me or tell me how to resolve this or why this is happening please do so.

Thank you Trap17 for your hosting. You guys are awesome, just need a little help on this.

Thanks for the update BH, we appreciate whatever morsels of information you can send our way. It's 9:01 pacific time and my free account is still down as well. No access from cpanel, and no answer from xisto, either. I'm afraid this has gone far beyond simple inconvenience....

Seems that the Cpanel Server is having an issue from the Server Migration (move) today.

Keep trying to access Cpanel at hourly intervals is about all we can suggest for the time being.

Well, I've been waiting for about 24 hours now... three of my sites went down around this time yesterday. I figured by now things would be working again, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Is there something that I'm missing? I got the email since I'm also a paying customer (interesting how the three paid sites of mine went down, but the free site of mine stayed up lol...). The email mentioned about how things would be down for 5-6 hours, possibly up to 24 hours, so I was hoping that it would have all resolved by now.

I see the list of ip's mentioned above, am I supposed to be doing something on my end with them? Or will things just work out fine on their own? I'm not sure if I need to change something to get it working, or if it only needs more time to work itself out. I'm not on a virtual private server, so I am under the impression that I don't need to do anything but wait. I'm just hoping to confirm that.

Anyway, let me know what you can  Thanks!

EDIT: it appears that my free trap17 hosted site is also down now... and from my statcounter, it seems to have been down for about the past 1.5 hours. It was up and running fine prior to that as my others were down lol...

I was also hoping that service would be usual when I returned this morning...but I'm afraid not.

I was up until 3am EST (GMT-5) and ns2.comptinghost finally resolved to new IP. At 6am EST other servers were coming on line--check with http://xisto.com/network-status/

Free web hosting accounts are under the server named GAMMA. As I can see at the moment it's is completely off-line. Reason why the server might not be fully operational is to protect any interference while transferring data to new place.

I will check back later.

There has been a change now (for me anyway).
Yesterday I could still access my site, today I can't.
Still no chance of accessing my Trap 17 CPanel, no email.

I wonder what the regular visitors to my site will think.
In a ticket I raised, Xisto asked me to give them my domain, and they would get in touch giving me all the IP address details.
Hopefully it does not take as long as their previous replies.

I believe the change has gone through just as well. But with any change in World Wide Web, we must wait until the change propagates through and through.

When an important change such as moving servers occurs not only new IP has to be resolved, but all other servers connecting to new server must be resolved as well. This includes your ISP provider to update "short-cut" to our new servers.

All we can do now is just wait...I'm afraid. There's nothing that can expedite the process

PS for all those who are using name server with IP address, please double check your IP for ns2.computinghost.com. It has been changed. For those who are just using "ns2.computinghost.com" you need not worry.

Ah! My website was online just this morning and noon (GMT +10, no daylight savings, standard east-coast Australian Time) and now I can't access it, nor can I access cPanel or any part of it!

According to Xisto's Network Status page, the server that I'm on (Gamma Server) is still be "transfered" to the new datacentre, even though Apache is offline, I can still upload files to it, but according to it, THERE IS NO INTERNET CONNECTION!

I just hope that no data will be lost during this transfer, and also that they may have more uptime after the transfer... Never again should there be more than 12 hours of downtime for any Web-Hosting provider, heck, I thought Xisto and/or Computinghost was going to shutdown after I couldn't access any of the main servers that I can remember from the top of my head

EDIT: Now, 24 hours downtime :)...
