At the moment i'm a Newbie [Level 1], at what stage do I become something other than a Newbie and when would I move to [Level 2] and so on?

You become a Newbie[Level 2] at 25 posts. You stop being a newbie at 50 posts.

Here are the different levels, and the number of posts a member needs to have to get to that level:
