Here's another tutorial, this time it's a "Ripped Paper" effect. Enjoy. Credit goes to Jerner.

***SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE POST TO SEE THE RESULT***

Step 1. -
Start out with creating a new image (size is optional). Set default color.

Step 2. - Create a new layer. Using the Rectangular Marquee tool, create the shape & size you want your paper to be.

Step 3. - Fill your "paper" with the color you want using the Paint Bucket tool (I used #DDDCCA).

Step 4. - Now, Zoom in one corner to 300%

Step 5. - Let's get started. Select the Lasso tool and start zig-zagging across te border as the picture shows. Some call this "El shaky hand". When you have selected an area press 'Delete' to get rid of the area.

Step 6. - Continue doing this til' you have gone 'round the whole paper.
Now add some drop shadow and maybe a gradient and you're finished!

Here is my result... I hope you get something like it.
PM me if I forgot something or if you don't understand!
