how to convert user into administrator vistaMake Yourself Admin On A ComputerWell dear friends, This is not some magic or shocking thing, Windows XPput aside the default Administrator ID, when you create a new user bytyping your user name after finishign fresh installation. So thebiggest flaw and threat to the security is that your DefualtAdministrator id with name administrator is with blank password. Thisis a risk. You should change the password instead of keeping it Blank.Evenif you forget the Admins Pass , what you gonna do :P I know you have nosolution except Re-Installing a new copy over it or Re-InstallRepair... Anyway this problem is also solved by Hirens 9.X Bootable CDthat included Password changerSo last magic, While you see youLogon Screen waiting for Password, Hold CTRL + ATL and Press DELete Keyfor awhile, and the another Logon Mode appear. Now you can Just Puthere Administrator and if you have set Passwd lately type it or justENTER!;) EnjoyRegards,ToxicElement

safe mode not requiredMake Yourself Admin On A Computer

You don't really need to go to safe mode. If the administrator account does not have a password, click once on a user name having a password (In the password box). Then press ctrl + Alt + del. You should get the old NT style login box. Type in Administrator in the user name and press enter.

Does anyone have a way to find out the administrator password of a windows vista basic lenovo x200, because I go to a school and the school basically owns my laptop until I leave that school.

How it worksMake Yourself Admin On A ComputerReplying to rejected When windows is installed a user account called administrator is set up. When you get a new computer and you go through the mini setup it has you create another administraotr account with a name of your choosing lets say it is called "Bob". Now you have to administrator accounts "administrator" and "Bob". If you do not log in and setup a passowrd for administrator then anyone can just log into the administrator account and change any settings they want. You do not need to be in safe mode. All you need to do is click CTRL+ALT+DEL then CTRL+ALT+DEL at the login screen and you will get a box you can type the "administrator" username into then leave the password field blank. If it logs into the account you have no password on that account and you should set one up! Hope this helps.-reply by BriGuy

How can that be possible? Safe mode dosen't rub out the password. At least not in vista
There's an easier way.. Open up CMD (command Prompt) and type 'net user' This will bring up some writing, saying who is Administrator and guest's on that particular Computer.
You can then add users, delete users, change Administrators passwords, without having to know the previous passwords, delete Administrator's, make Admin's etc etc..

There's multiple Videos on youtube etc showing you how to do this, and the codes necessary to do so.

Hope this helped :)

however, if the admin does have a password, all you have to do is make a new shortcut, name it "command.com", and then do the whole "net user administrator *" and change it so that you an get in.b
