Actually he is right that, when your blog grows then it is beneficial to have Google adsense. Why ? cause Kontera ads are embeded in content and is not good when your blog fetch tons of traffic in that case, Google adsense performs better. Although you can use both these ad networks but seriously, using too much ads on blog/site will be not in favor of your site. And it will look cluttered. So at start Kontera is fine, but when your traffic grows it is better to go with Google adsense or other banner ad based ads.

Yeah, that's right... I'll do that when I have have enough traffic...
But I'm still stuck on the name, because all the "news" related names have been taken, and if I want this to work, I'll need a .com domain name that hasn't been taken and won't be (hopefully) taken in the future while I set everything up...

something like newsblog.com or dailynews.com or something like that. Not national or local, just small snippets of random news that I find interesting daily. somthing like randomnews.com, but better.

I suggest you to use W3schools online tutorials. It is very easy to learn languages from their tutorials. Even PHP and SQL tutorials are there with HTML/CSS/XML. And learning from their tutorial is much better than those "Dummies fo xx language" type books. Other than that start asking questions whenever you start learning new language. this will help you clear queries and people on internet can point you to many other resource which you never explored before.

Yeah, I've start from there before, but it's still quite hard. I managed to get through the HTML bit though, so that's better than nothing... I really don't get it though. Is HTML the universal language of website programming and designing? And CSS is just a way to enhance the text and things because it doesn't really look very good?

Then where does PHP and XML come in???

Is that just another extension that you can just plonk into the middle of your HTML coding (like CSS) or do you have the write the whole thing from start to the end with PHP/XML???

Thats the question.

ALso, if you people have any suggestions on what my blog should be named, please do tell me. :P

Domain names are no problem. Point is you've to look for name that you want for your site. Plus, your site should sound catchy with that name. Else weird names are sometimes hard to remember. So you've to find catchy and easy to remember name. Also avoid "-"in between domain name.

That niche is too populated. But still there is plenty of room for new blogs and websites. It depends on how you promote your site. and what is there in your blog/site that will attract your visitors next time. News related domains are in huge demand so most of the domains are already taken. You can consider mixing english and foreign language word (and that to short ofcourse)as solution to your blog/site name. Just a suggestion, after all it's your call.

For web development, Knowing HTML is essential. All the web development languages are parsed by web browser and what you get on browser is HTML. So i guess you got the idea how much important is HTML.

Yes. CSS is used to enhance web pages/XML and many other languages to display the content on web browser or platform where there is presentation(GUI/etc).

Then where does PHP and XML come in???

PHP is used to create dynamic site. That mean when you want to interact with database to display your data then in such conditions PHP/ASP/JSP comes in. You can create static sites with PHP as well. and XML is used depending upon the need of project. Some use XML as database to store objects, some fetch styles/data from XML files for presentation. So use of XML is dependent on project.

Don't get confused. See view of these things in a simple way. HTML/PHP as way of expressing stuff to browser so that it can show your data by understanding them. Think of CSS as presentation side of HTML/PHP(enhancement you can say). XML for now, try to forget in order not to complicate and bombard yourself with concepts.

Sorry for the late reply!!! Trap17 didn't really work for the whole day and I think I'm just lucky finding it working after checking just before I was going to bed... Anyway...

I have made my first blog!!! I am SO happy, though I can see that it is a lot of work to tend to, because I have chosen such a hard topic. But anyway...
It took me so long to get the blog template right, and then it took me a while to figure out how to make my own banner, because the template had a premade one that you couldn't just edit, because it's an image and not a text thing... but I am just so happy.

Well, technically, I'm not supposed to use Google Adsense, but I can ask my mum for permission to use it under her name. I will also use Kontera too, but I only have one page at the moment, and Kontera needs 5 good quality pages, so it'll be a while for me to be able to use that function. I am not intending of using Kontera long term though, but this template also makes it hard to put ads in it. If you have any advice, it will be greatly appreciated, because I really don't know how to meddle the template format, because I didn't do it myself (well, duh... what did you think? I'm not pro enough for that yet...)

Meanwhile, while I am tending to my blog, I will learn CSS and PHP and XML from w3schools.com... yeah, I think they are the best website ever for website programming... and I'll have a start at that. Also, just to let you guys know, I have just joined the forums where I used to be an admin, so I might not post here as often. I'm just joining them to ask them for advice on my site, because it is related to what they are (and I am too...) interested about...

Anyway, I don't think that my blog is indexed in Google right now, it usually takes awhile, maybe from a few hours to a few days, but hopefully not a few months...

If you want to see it, this is the link... ---> http://newstack.blogspot.com/

Thanks people, and please give some feedback on my first and new blog ever!!!

Hi Nameless_ good that you finally choose to step in first. Actually you made good move using blogspot. There are several advantages to newbie on money making scheme with blogspot. Now while getting yourself comfy with your blog, take this step one by one 1st:

1. Try posting everyday --> this might help you get crawled by search engine often
(try to ping google everytime you finish with posting or editing : to inform them. You can use free handy service like pingomatic.com)

2. Start getting traffic by blog walking (leave comment on neighbor's blog)

3. Doing link building. (This should be your continuous effort).

In blogspot, you already had google adsense embedded. What you need to experiment lil bit: choosing the right spot and match the color of your adsense with your template.

The idea that you need to focus at this moment is : more traffic equal more money.

Good luck!
