I want to create video gallery(streaming) page for my college alumni dept. They want to upload video regularly. So i’m planning to upload it using script phpmotion. I have question that is it possible to host phpmotion ? I didn't see any FFmpeg hosting package on computinghost's packages. If there is any that allows this please point me to it.

Also, Xisto allows hosting of scripts like phpmotion ? Allows ffmpeg hosting package ? Is it possible with dedicated server package or VPS package ?

If I remember right this is available but only with VPS/Dedicated packages. Both of those allow it because you install what you want. The shared hosting packages don't allow running your own scripts.

Yes, shared hosting will not manage to run such huge script. Besides even if it runs on shared hosting. It will cause problems to server and to site as well. Too much traffic and request queries will bring site down. So shared hosting option is not in list.

In case of VPS & dedicated server, is it possible ? I mean there should be official support for this. Though as VPS & dedicated server, we can run almost any script that are supported. But still hosting service needs to clear if this is supported or not. To confirm their servers can manage with traffic, queries etc. So i asked this question to clarify if ffmpeg hosting works or not with computinghost.

It does, i was on shared hosting, in fact i still am, and i run all my own scripts that i write myself (well most of them) the limitations of shared hosting are space, BW and restrictions on cpu usage (Eg huge scripts that slow the server down, if everyone on one server used intensive codes then the servers would just crash) im sure there are restrictions on certain types of content too but custom scripts isnt one of them.

By scripts I meant things like FFMPEG and others like it. I wasn't thinking about Perl scripts or anything (unless you meant also programs like FFMPEG?)

I was also thinking along the lines of like Teamspeak and whatnot. I guess those are more of "programs" but really they run from scripts too.

Yes. You're right. Teamspark, phpmotion, clip-share, vshare scripts require heavy resource of server. Most of the time dedicated or VPS servers are used for this. But i've seen few hosts offering ffmpeg plans separately than vps/dedicated. So i was expecting reply for admins, if this type of package or custom support for such account exist or can be ordered ?
