In this tutorial I will show you how to make a border for your sig or avatar.

Step 1:: Open up your image you want to add the border to, and create a new layer above all others.


Step 2:: With the new layer selected, fill it with pure white, and then go to Edit > Stroke and use these settings
Width:: 3 PX
Color:: Any Dark Color
Location:: Inside



Step 3:: Now go back to Edit > Stroke, And use these settings
Width:: 2 PX
Color:: White
Location:: Inside



Step 4:: Now go back to the stroke settings one more time, and this time use these settings,
Width:: 1 PX
Color:: Black or a very dark color
Location:: Inside



Now this is what we should have by now,


Step 5:: We have our border, but now the image isnt showing, well, this is why we chose the color white, Go to the layers tab and set the blending mode to darken.
This should be the final effect, If it is not then go back over the steps to see where you went wrong.

nice tutorial, what i'd like to know is how you get that glossy 3d effect like in your sig, can you point me to any tutorials or something? thanks..

I dont know of any tutorials on it, but i might be able to write one on it.
i will as soon as i get time.
