Never knew that; wow. I have to admit, I've tried copying bills for fun too, they never come out right though or look pretty damn bad. Here's something that you probably already know but I find it really interesting: http://www.tuaw.com/...ency-detection/

It's Adobe Photoshop's currency detection feature to prevent fraud :)
And did you know?
"In case you were interested, it's not only Photoshop that has currency detection systems built in (with undisclosed algorithms) but also many printers and scanners."

This topic is really interesting, thanks OP.

That's insane. I didn't know that. I didn't notice any issues with Photoshop on the 100 :/ Trippy. I wouldn't have thought something like that would be easily done, but doing a bit of reading, it seems to be quite simple for Photoshop.

I suppose I know now, even more than before that counterfeiting money is serious! :P

Who wouldn't like to get rich that easily? As some of you said in this topic , think about Frank Abagnale .. he got so famous that even Leonardo Di Caprio Played his role in a movie!
It's a way to risky business to get involved in and I don't think that a few years of happines could compete with a few years in a JAIL!. I have "friend" , or better say.. a person I know who got caught because of a mistake the police did. He bought a mobile phone from a person and that person gave him false Euros , of course without him knowing it. Everything was ok , no one knew anything until the cops showed up at his door , saying that he's arested beeing acused that he's apart of a money printing group.
If you think about it this is the easiest and theoreticaly the fastest way to make money , but it's only a mather of time before you get caught!
Maybe if you work a few years for the National Bank in your country and find out how REAL money get made MAYBE you could try to make them on your own and hopefully , doing such a good job that no one could realise it , at least until you leave the country :)).

Anyway , the smartest thing is to try and make money on other ways , more ..legal ways.

It is also classified as a federal crime to write on money unless you are an official bank or government employee with the rights to do so. This includes people who write messages on their bills and other things, like highlighting and coloring.

It is not smart at all to make such a post on this forum, especially if you intend to go through with it. Even if you have no intends on carrying it out, you could one day be given fake money and then you could get caught trying to spend it. You post on this forum would be strong evidence for any jury. As for printing money, I have no objections personally, although its illegal. I wouldn't do it, but I don't think doing it is morally incorrect. You have a small elite group of individuals controlling the creation and distribution of money, and dictating the monetary system not only within the US, but also on the international level. I would advise you to do your research extensively, and perhaps it mat be easier to fake money in a third world countries such as Zimbabwe.

I remember seeing on the news quite a while back, that some people were making fake $20 bills on 5$ bills. So it had all the right texture and what not, but it had the watermark (the one if you hold it up to the light) of a 5$ bill.. I think that's what it was. Maybe they made it on a $10 but the point is they used a real bill to make a higher bill. Wasn't half bad idea except they caught on to it. lol.

Wow :o ! That would be such a great idea ;) if each one of us owned a printing machine of our own where we could just print money whenever we wished to and spent it as we wanted to :P . But unfortunately that was not the way it is planned. Though if we could, no one on this earth would be poor and everyone would live a luxurious life. But then nobody would realize the importance of money. Nobody would learn to value it, because human tendency is such that we value only those things that we know we have to work hard for, not for things that we get very easily and don't have to slog <_< . And besides people would also try and misuse money for any wrong purposes and too many crimes would take place. So working hard and earning money to become rich according to me is a good idea then printing money and becoming rich where we wouldn't understand the importance and become lazy in earning money and striving hard for it. :)

Well, money also doesn't have any true value, only a perceived one. This is why we have things like inflation. So even if we could make our own money, it would just lead to everything being extremely expensive, and the end result would be that things would be like they already are now (just instead of being paid $10 and spending $5, we'd make $500 and spend $250.

Definitely money governs every aspect in our life.Depending on the amount of money we have in our purses we can either think of pursuing a dream or not.But the money with which we can accomplish so much in our life doesn't come easily to us.We have to work really hard enough to earn it but finding shortcuts to earn it like finding a printing machine and print as much money we need sounds too exciting. But there arises a question what impact can such actions lead to when the whole of economy is concerned. If randomly many people in society finds a way to earn money like this a huge chaos can happen economically.Because getting access to money means getting access to resources. So money has to be injected in a system depending on the availability of resources
we can provide to the people. If everybody prints money and come out with lots of money but adequate resources isn't there to fulfill their demand. The whole balance of demand supply chain will be broken. There will be only demands but supplies won't be there.Accordingly commodity prices will reach far above bringing in an unhealthy degree of inflation. Such inflationary nature of money can be well evident from situations when government injects money in economy through various ways like giving salary increment hike by setting up pay commissions.

Printing money... that is an idea that should be left for trusted authorities, there is another aspect that might be discussed about, if everyone starts to print money then nobody would be interested to do any other work, so even if you get rich yourself , what would you buy as there would be shortage of services and products, lack of interest in all other fields than printing money. The increase in the amount of resources unnaturally would ultimately result in the slow decline of the end itself.

In the age of "electronic" money, it might be easier to fake it with other means (various card operations, bank transactions), than to create/use a manufacturing process for paper money.

It is illegal and in long term it is better to enhance your knowledge in high value things and open up a business than to steal and get few small injections of money.
