An outbreak of Legionnaires' has occurred in south Wales that has resulted in one death and thirteen other cases of the disease. The source of the outbreak has yet to be found, but officials are examining cooling towers and industrial facilities as possible sources.

Legionnaires' disease is also referred to as Legion fever and is accompanied by pneumonia. All individuals exposed to the bacterium do not show severe symptoms, but those who are vulnerable to the disease can succumb to the illness. The infection is contracted primarily through inhaling the bacteria and the infection is typically associated with a water source, with the bacteria spreading through an aerosol affect of devices such as car windshield sprays and certain types of air conditioners and cooling devices.
