There are loads of websites nowadays. The Youtube offers channels to post videos for free. The Myspace and the Facebook offer free space to publish personal information and thoughts. Free bloghosts offer space to type opinions and articles. All together it is possible to create a labyrinth of free websites clued together to form 1 big website with connections to eachother to post on the internet whatever a person likes to publish. Used with some creativity this means that it is not necessary anymore in these days to get, build and run a self owned website.
