I have a question about subdomains. When I go to purchase a web hosting plan, if I choose a subdomain like: mydomain.astahost.com, will I still be able to put adsense on there and treat it like a normal website?

yes. you will have access to cpanel and are able to use it within the limits of your hosting plan. it's the same as if you bought a domain.
