Can anyone check my site and suggest what should be changed or improved, the site's aim is to host video reviews (games/movies), video tutorials (currently on que for upload), scripting tutorials (php, asp and others) and database stuffs.

Currently it is using a modified polkadot theme from zenverse, the side panel is about to be modified too and will soon have a small RSS buttons. There is a known issue on IE where the video preroll ad keeps on getting a left alignment problem instead of centered content (checked with IE8). In case you see a warning for javascript error on your IE (in case you are going to view it via IE), please if possible send/attach a screenshot of the error that will popup. I am tracing this problem and it is giving me a headache since 50% of the time it wont appear.

NOTE: Due to unexplained technical problems with my paid hosting, I purchased a xisto hosting at http://coderinthebox.com. This will be used as the test ground for review since my domain is locked until the end of contract.

However, it would help if you posted the URL to your website.
(Or at least a bit clearer, later saw the "Vhortex.com" in the title of your post).

Hi,

I like the design of your site. Not sure how you're going to upload the videos. If it's with the help of xisto hosting then i think you need to find alternative place to host because CH hosting doesn't come up with FFMPEG.

About loading time, i think you need to run Firebug> Yslow (additional add-on) to check the speed. You can also add WP-minify in your wordpress theme if you are using wordpress. I found tweet at the top little bit annoying you can switch them to sidebars. Design looks good, you can switch to genesis or thesis for more better control if you're into coding.

Thank you for both replies, I have no plans at the moment on hosting the site in xisto. The videos are streamed using youtube. I already run Yslow and can't follow some of it's suggestions like 1-4 DNS lookup for reasons that the video was hosted on youtube, the ads coming from google and infolinks and they are paying for the existence of the site.

I'll try the WP-minify or equivalent and thanks for the comment for the tweet. I'll locate that somewhere below. I don't know however if people wants the meebo chat feature below the site.

For speed, I am getting inconsistent speed using the same ISP and using the same set of computers but with different browsers. 20% of the time, firefox loads slow 30% IE loads slow and the rest of the browsers such as Opera (great browser), chrome (another great browser I am using) and safari for windows loads the site fast.

There are limitations on the site such as total speed, the shared hosting seems to be overselling them a lot. I am going to either move the site to one of the 2 paid hosting services that I have been using for clients on virtual dedicated. 4-10 accounts in 1 server and that is less crowding.

i must say that i like your site a lot. as i can see you did a really good job in there, i like the mix of colors, the red with white and light gray. i like font you use and the structure. it is so neat and organized, but i think you should use a more attractive header, because now it looks like it is lost within the whole design, so you can give it a unique color or bigger side, or make it in 3D or anything you like. another thing, the copyrights in the footer, i think you should center it. and above the footer you should fix the page numbers, they appear to me with a square sign. and i think it is kind of incompatible signs with the browser. and i see it in opera 10.63, but i can see it fine in firefox.

other than that, you did a good job and no need to worry, good luck .

I was checking your host on who is hosting this and found that you're hosted by -phil web services. I guess you are on good servers that is why you're getting some good response time and uptime on these servers.

By the way why not use 'gmail chat plugin for wordpress' ? or maybe the oggchat ? In my opinion, wiblya and meebo chat toolbars are annoying so you should use these small snippet based chat plugins. These plugins are less annoying and can do the work that you want to get done by wiblya and meebo toolbar's chat functionality.

Thanks for the reply, actually phil web services is not a good hosting service base on my own opinion, my hosting goes down without notice and they give no explanation why it happen. They only send info when there are mass complain emails from all users. For the past 2 months, my website goes on and off for more than 2 hours a day.

Thank you for that recommended chat system. Meebo was plain annoying sometimes and I indeed modified the javascript just to prevent making every possible thing in my site sharable.

I already moved a copy of the website in xisto hosting, sorry for the problems. I will update it from http://coderinthebox.com domain since my paid hosting is way unstable.

I think you should have moved it to reliable host like hostgator or some better VPS or services. Xisto is reliable but looking at the current state of support on forums and broken things. I think you should keep looking for better host. I purchased hostgator and going to move few sites to them. Though i think for domains you can still use xisto though.

I'll check and review new domain once i get on desktop to view your URL.

Look wise I liked your site. Its having a cool, simple look which works a lot. It’s a bit slow to load I don’t know why. But in a single note I would like to say that it’s having a good look.
