i thought that i am now understanding everything in cpanal. but, it seems i am not. sp i will use my famous phrase " i am lost...again  "

now,i want someone to help me to know where i am mistaken, i did the following steps:

- i bought a new domain name "www.fatenfolio.com".
- i waited till it registered and i received an email with that.
- i added it as an addon domain, because i want it to point to a specific folder in my cpanal which is now under my blog in this path

http://www.meinterest.com/myportfolio/

what i want is, my new domain "www.fatenfolio.com" to point to the "myportfolio" folder. so that when i type in the browser "www.fatenfolio.com" the index file in "myportfolio" appears.

so, i added the new domain as an addon domain. i entered the the domain name and make sure that the directory field points to the new folder that is created after registering the new domain and up;oaded my portfolio files to that folder. but what i got is; when i type "www.fatenfolio.com" a not found page with my blog them :(
and the new domain appears in the address bar like it is a subdomain under meinterest.com :( ;ile this

http://www.meinteres...fatenfolio.com/

so where is the error????

thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated.

ok WD- i was about to just refer you to my pm's but i noticed you gave a lot more details in this post than when you pm'd me so disregard my pm's. sheeesh.....if it wasn't your birthday i would be giving you a hard time right now :)

anyway,

1: remove your addon domain
2: remove your "myportfolio" directory in your "public_html" directory
3: add your domain again using the following steps
4: type in your new domain name
5: type in your password TWICE
6: change the document root from "public_html/fatenfolio.com" to "public_html/myportfolio"
7: click "add domain"
8: add all your files for your new website in your newly created "myportfolio" directory

these are the exact steps i want you to follow. if you did ANYTHING else to try and make it work, it could screw up things so try to set everything back to where it was before you added your domain.

next time, be clear in your pm's or i will have to kill you :D

to keep this thread helpful for everyone. i will show you how we fixed this problem. ME and the CPANAL WIZARD :D (i mean anwiii in here). and i called him like this because every time i have a problem in cpanal, i stay struggling there for days and then he came with simple steps and fix it :) .

so now i got what i want, a new domain contain my portfolio files :P. i mean when i type my domain name , my portfolio files upload and the domain name still the same and not be shown under my blog domain which is my problem from the first place. all i did, according to anwiii's instruction of course :D are:

- i removed the addon domain that i created before.
- i removed any folder that contains my portfolio files from public_html.
- i added my new domain as an addon domain again.
- and i made sure that my folder path when i added the new domain is targeting the folder of my new domain that had been added after i registered my new domain in public_html.
- i uploaded all my portfolio files in the folder of my new domain in public_html.
- and i deleted this line from .htaccess file that is available under public_html.

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.meinterest.com/$1 [R=301,L]

this line is used to redirect my trap subdomain to my blog domain. and even now my trap subdomain isn't working but it is ok since my blog domain is working and my new domain is working too. and later i will fix this and post the solution here. i hope those informations will be useful to anyone face the same problem in cpanal.
