I find the win 7 is very slow in my newest netbook so I want to try the linux. Any guy can

give me some suggestion about the Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Ylmf_OS_3.0?

First of all i have seen a completely same topic on the "Tomshardware" and as the time of posting is near too so i think that you have posted this topic in two places, the answer you have got in there is not complete so i will give you a more complete answer. first of all i have installed win 7 starter on a notebook with even lower specifications than yours and it was able to do many regular things, like working with office (2010 version) and surfing the net using IE , FireFox and Opera so maybe i don't know what you exactly mean by being very slow but i think that you haven't installed the starter version, it is very important to install starter version because it is a lot more lighter than home version, it even gives you 700mb of your ram free after booting up with only 1GB of ram and this is great features from Windows Seven, so if you haven't tried the starter version first go and try it because going from windows to linux is not an easy work and of course needs a lot of time to learn each aspect of it for being able to do regular things with it.

Now about ubuntu netbook i have to say that i was thinking that ubuntu netbook version should be like windows 7 starter as you go from home version to starter version you loose the beautiful GUI of win7 but in ubuntu there is not any loss in GUI and i can say it is nearly same as ubuntu without any change. ubuntu is free and every software comes with it is free to so you don't have to pay for office and photoshop because you will get alternatives for them for free and this is a huge advantage but of course learning each of them needs a lot of time but it worth. now about sharpness i think ubuntu is a little more friendlier with slower hardwares than windows 7 and it loads softwares a little faster but as there is not many same softwares to test so the result maybe not scientific but with some same softwares like firefox i can say ubuntu netbook version can load it a lot faster than win 7 , ubuntu will give you a lot of free ram to run your applications but i found that the cpu usage in idle more is a little more than win 7 and this thing just makes your battery empty sooner, i don't if the problem was from my netbook or from OS but that thing was really annoying.

Now the ylmf OS, first you should know that it is completely ubuntu even with gnome but they have changed it GUI a little to look like windows XP , i have tested it and it is just like a combination of softwares that maybe you don't want, it runs app of windows using WINE and so you only get a ubuntu with ancient looking of win XP , so i don't see any reason for going for it. it will not give you a better performance and not anything more than ubuntu and i found that the GUI they have made are having serious problem with some resolutions. so my suggestion is first to try and see if winodws seven starter works for you and if it didn't then go for ubuntu netbook version, it will gibe you a lot of flexibility but of course it needs a lot of time because you have to learn it first. and my suggestion is that to not use wine for running windows applications in linux because netbooks have week cpu so running windows application using a software which makes them to use more cpu than in windows is just like killing your time to run them.
