I use quite a few programs from Giveaway of the Day, as there are some interesting ones among them at times.

However, I have one question now:

As is always the case with Giveaway of the Day, after installing a program, you have to activate/register it before the day is over, ie. before the next Giveaway of the Day is published.

i have quite a few programs from Giveaway of the Day on my laptop, some come with an activation code which you need to enter into the program, some use a kind of automatic activation.

The problem is: I might have to reformat my laptop, I still have all the setup files for my Giveaway of the Day programs, but won't they be left useless as activation time has long gone for all of them?

Or is there something I can do to activate them again?

Like I said, some of the Giveaway of the Day programs are really good, and the ones I have have proven to be really useful to me, so I would not want to lose them.

If there is a way of keeping them, please help me out by telling me how.

Thank you in advance.

have used them in the past too as once in a while when they have a really good program available for download. i also advertise them on one of my sites. i think the best way to get an answer though is to contact them directly and then post whatever you find out. i reformat my computer ever year or so so i have actually had this issue come up before when i bad a backup of some of their programs.

Options that might work.

Option 1 is to make a copy and back up of the unpacked and installed package and files. This copy and backup can be moved to the hard disk after the reinstallation of the operating program.
Option 2 is to reset the date of the computer to the date of the purchase and to install the program.

About option 1.

A backup and copy should be stored on a different sort of storage element like an external disk, a usb-stick, a cd or a dvd. When the copy of the file is stored on the same hard disk the operating program is located the copy will be deleted when the complete hard disk is formatted during the installation proces of the operating program and when the partition is cleaned during the installation.

About option 2.

It is possible this option doesn't work. It is possible that when the program has been installed with the old date the program won't work when the date of the computer is set to the actual date.

It is possible that these options don't work because this one day to install only scedule of the Giveawayoftheday is a kind of rare.

Option 3 is to use the free download version of the program.

The free download version can be used for a certain time. The trial period is most of the time 30 days.
When the operating program is reinstalled the trial version can be downloaded again and can be installed again.

Option 4 is to make an image of the hard disk, clean the hard disk and to replace the image to the hard disk. The disadvantage of this approach is that all unnecessary files and eventually malware, virusses and other infections are copied and replaced too. This means this is not a cleanup of the hard disk. This is also not a reliable way to clean the computer.
