Character education is very important for children because it tackles important values that can be used in life such as equality, respect, generosity, kindness, courage and honesty. Character education is intended to raise the children in the future that are morally responsible and self disciplined person. There are three important aspects that play an important role in the developing moral character like decision making, conflict resolution and problem solving. The common means on children to be taught character education is through discussion and role playing. Character education teaches the child to know what would be the consequence of their actions to people and things.

Those are some ways to teach children, but more importantly is that parents need to lead by example. You can tell your children all day to be kind and treat others with respect, but if the parents are rude, obnoxious, and ill tempered towards other people in their day to day contacts, the children will pick up on that a lot quicker than what their parents tell them to do.

Yes character education is must for a kid. But it is not necessary that a kid gets it at school. Parents can create the same environment.

Agreed that kids can be imparted character education, both at home and at school, but we cannot rule out the influence of environment that the child goes through in his course of life, informal education or the collection of experiences gathered by him play a significant role in shaping his character.Only setting the ideals is not sufficient, keeping constant vigilance over the child's environmental change or development and then correlating those with the ideals set by means of discussion and role play would be helpful to shape a realistic, morally sound human being.

I am agree with you johnmarch but, One of the best benefits of preschool is that they get to be with a teacher, and are introduced to a classroom setting, where the teacher is the authority figure, and they have to share with classmates, etc. It is important that your child is able to recognize that teachers are in charge, and get used to listening to them, and obeying their rules.
