Megan and Eric Kellermeyer must really be into their Skyrim. Well, one of them at least. They’ve named their child Dovahkiin Tom Kellermeyer. That’s Skyrim speak for Dragonborn Tom Kellermeyer. He was born on Skyrim’s release date.
Actually it’s Bethesda’s fault. Back in February, they threw down a challenge: if anyone delivered a child on 11.11.11 and named him/her Dovahkiin, they would provide free Bethesda games for life. This teaser was welcomed by Elder Scrolls fans, and a couple really named their child Dovahkjin. And Bethesda did not break their promise. They gave the proud couple a lifetime’s worth of Bethesda games.

I just wanna say it's a foolish deal.

I don't think it's that bad, it's not like it's an insulting name, it's just strange. By the time he's old enough to go to school, the kids won't even know what Skyrim is, so it's not like they would tease him (which, they don't even have a reason to in the first place). On top of that, like most children with a longer or hard to pronounce first names, he can very easily go by his middle name if he so chooses.

I would probably be proud of such a name as I grew older and began to understand where it originated from, especially if became as avid a gamer as I am now. The concept of naming a child after a video game character isn't really foreign to me, since my girlfriend and I plan to name our first child after a video game character.
