hitachi 160GB

i have bought 160gb hitachy hard drive. i fdiske'd it and windows detects that is only 130gb. where my other 30gb has gone?

Its probally in another partition that is not detected. Some reasons is that either the HDD is faulty or its an OS problem. Try using a software to combine all the partitions altogether and use the format function in MS-DOS mode. It should work out fine.

Sometimes HDD's do that... I have 200GB WD and I really only get 189GB.

1. update BIOS
2. don't use win98 ,if you use windows2k ,it maybe ok?! hehe

you dont get this problem in linux, lol when im logged on windows it says i have less.
NTFS partions take away like 10 gigs, on those bigger hardrives

harddrives just say they have that much
