I was wondering... was that a coincidence? or really Gmail works as an Ad?

Well, I just installed Kerio Personal Firewall, and set the firewall to block the Ads on the web. Then when I wanted to check my Gmail inbox it didn't work at all!!! After a few days I realize that it might be caused by the Kerio Personal Firewall settings, then I unblock the Ads and everything seemed to be perfect again.
I was wondering... was that a coincidence? or really Gmail works as an Ad?
