Some of you may of read my earlier Road Runner story, well, now I have a new game going.
Several weeks ago I kept hearing this strange noise coming from the kitchen. Pretty loud noise, a lot bigger than if it was just a tiny little mouse running around for sure. Hubby was taking a nap, and our dog was asleep beside me on the couch. So I knew it couldn't be any of the usual suspects. So I headed to the kitchen to see what was going on. It was then I saw the blig black crow sitting in the window in the laundry room, which is right off the kitchen. I swear if the window hadn't been closed he would of come right on in. But he did take off when he saw me looking at him. But over the next couple weeks he just kept coming back. Sometimes he would come and peck at the window a couple times a day, and sometimes I wouldn't hear him for several days, but he was still making quite a habit out of his visits. Since I already had managed to befriend a Road Runner, I thought it might be fun to try a crow next. I have heard that crows are really smart and have heard of people makeing pets out of them so I figured I'd give it a try. Now, I'm not real sure what crows eat, but since I do see them pecking at carcuses. I figure they are probably meat eaters. So several days ago I put a slice of lunch meat in the window sill. Of course, for the next few days after that I didn't hear him and the slice of lunch meat just dryed up. It was chicken lunch meat, so maybe while crows are meat eaters, they arent' cannibals? Anyway, this afternoon I heard the now rather familiar pecking at the window again. He (or she, I'm not that sharp on crow sexes) was finally back. He did fly away again as usual when I approached, but this time the lunch meat was gone. But I don't know if he got it or if it just fell off or blew away. So I put out a fresh piece for him. We will just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, if anybody knows what a crow's favorite food is, I'd sure like to know.

Something has my curiosity peaked about a new bit of technoligy in new cars. Been seeing this commercial on TV where a little boy is pushing his teddy bear in a toy plastic car down the side walk and a big SUV is getting ready to back out when the little boy gets behind it, and is about to get run over. Anyway, the back up camera system "see's" the boy and according to the announcer in the commercial it says the car can apply the brakes faster than you can, the car applys the breaks and the little boy is saved. Ok. fine. But what happens when you are flying down the freeway, and all of a sudden a car rushes up on your rear end from behind, or cuts over quickly and gets right behind you? Is your car going to put on the brakes and get you hit in the rear? I don't see how it could work for one thing and not put you in danger from another case scenario. Does anybody have any ideas on how this new technoligy actually works?
Wager Anyone?

The news carried a story last night about a recent lottery winner. A young woman one a million dollars in her state lottery. Of course, the government takes a great big bite of her winnings, nearly half, but she still ended up with something like 550,000. Not exactly chump change for sure. Just one problem. She was living on food stamps when she won the money. And she sort of "forgot" to report the income and continued to recieve food stamps. Ended up getting her dumb butt arrested. She claimed she had a lot of bills to pay, and apparently said she owned 2 houses. Not sure how you qualify for food stamps if you own 2 houses, but anyway, now she is in deep doo doo. Knowing she has all that money, any lawyer she hires is going to really lay the screws to her in what he charges to defend her on her failure to report charges. Personally, if it was me I'd not even get an attourney, they pretty much have an iron clad case against her. So, by the time she pays her supposed bills and the lawyer fees, and what ever else she ends up loosing because she will probably end up doing some jail time, I'm betting she ends up broke and back on food stamps. I give her one, or maybe 2 years and she will be right back collecting food stamps. Anybody want to make a wager on it? If she wasn't smart enough to know to report the income, you can pretty well bet she won't have the smarts to invest anything that might be left over in some way to make a better life for herself in the future.

I just got an email from Xisto, I'll paste part of it below
This email is to notify you that your account which is currently hosted on server GAMMA will be migrated onto better servers in our cluster. Once transfer is completed, you will receive a second email confirming the status & server details. For those using External DNS solutions, you will have to update your dns configuration with the new ip in order to avoid disruption of service.
I don't really understand this. What does it mean I will have to update my dns configuration? What's external DNS? I don't know if I use it or not.

Just A Minor Complaint.

This weekend was our anual pet breeders meeting and educational seminar. Held in downtown area in Springfield, at the convention center. Outside during a smoke break, I was approached by a young woman trying to get signatures for an petition for a vote during our next election. I do know a little bit about how these things work, the people carrying the petitions get paid so much for each signature. Now don't get me wroung, I have nothing against the way anybody tries to work to make a living, but when I asked the girl about what the petition was actually about and for and what it would do if it was voted on, she didn't have a clue. Not even the slightest idea. Seriously, if voters are to make an informed decision when they go to the polls, why don't the people promoting their ideas be at least able to explain the details of just what it is you are signing up to change? For any other job your employer is going to train you. Even if it's washing dishes in a restuarant, you will be taught not to leave food stuck on the plates that might cause someone to get food poisioned. When it comes to elections and things that effect our lives and our freedom should not that be important enough to have the facts availalble when someone asks? Can a person care so little about what goes on in the world that just to make money they would go around so totally uninformed just to make a little money? Where is this girls pride in doing a good job if she didn't even care enough to know what she was collecting signatures for? And even if her goal was simply to make money, did she not realize that by not knowing what she was doing she wasn't going to be able to convince people to sign the petition and therefor was not going to make much money anyway?
Anyway, I just found it upsetting that something as important as this was treated so carelessly by someone just out to make a buck.
